All I wanted was StarCraft in 3D and a continued story, and advanced editor. I didn't ask for all these new units!Desler wrote:It was looking too powerful, but change is good, otherwise we're just where we were 10 years ago, albeit with much better mapping and modding support - which is really all I want.Lavarinth wrote: The more time that passes- The more traditional StarCraft they go. It would be cool if it was that, but with the new and old units, giving more possibilities.

Whats wrong with you guys? Just let them make the game, worry about it later. You aren't going to be able to affect them with your whining, they can't hear you from here.

Lol, we've bitched enough to get rid of some units and change some unit graphics, remember that original Siege Tank?

I really don't mind, let them make the game. Just give more single player and mod info!

Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
The entire look of the game has been changed due to constructive criticism from fans (plus the Siege Tank's model and some other not-so-bad models like the Jackal and the WarpRay), so I think it's all cool as long as it's constructive and not just whining.
And Blizzard has stated time and time again that you'll be able to use all the SC: BW, SC2 and SC2 deleted units, along with many campaign-only units in the editor, so as long as mapmaking goes we can't lose at all.
I wish they'd release more info on the editor - especially the tileset blender feature which according to Dustin far surpasses anything seen in WC3, which had some pretty good tileset mixing capabilities already - and overall single player aspects of the game. I'm also curious to see what new tilesets the game will feature: Karune or someone else from Blizz said there'll be a ruined city tileset; recently they've announced a lava-based prison tileset; and finally, from the description of Aiur from the WWI, I think we'll have a ruined jungle tileset as well, in addition to the standard jungle terrain.

Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
Decent update.
Blizzard has created a biography of the Planet Mar Sara seen here:
http://www.starcraft2.com/features/planets/marsara.xml
What's interesting about this update is it provides some clues as to what a portion of the Terran campaign is going to be set in at the starting levels. In addition, you can see some of the civilian units and colony doodads of the template. Real cool. I'm sure there will be plenty of doodads for creating ruined city landscapes, as Mar Sara was previously destroyed by Tassadar when the Protoss bombarded the planet in SC1.

I have seen the Desler. I have tasted of his milk and honey.

Wow, those screenshots are pure win: our first look into SC2's civilian units! I can see quite a few miners, bikes and vehicles there, and the doodads look great as well.

Whew, finally something different. I like seeing 'irrelevant' stuff like this, cause we all get to use it ourselves. =)

Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
Two details in particular I'd like to point out to you guys.
There's a unit showing up consistently in the screens. He's wearing blue armor, and by the looks of him, is probably Raynor himself (hence Terran campaign reference.)
Secondly, something all of us wanted in SC1, there's female civilian units. Look at the top unit of the three located at the bar. I see a thin figure with breasticles. At last, female civilians.

Re: StarCraft II Official! (Pictures)
The cool thing is that the units are all slightly different from each other (hair color for example).
Also, new artwork. The first one is absolutely awesome; I look forward to seeing Aiur (I'm assuming it represents the ruins of Aiur) ingame. Looks like we'll finally get an infested tileset to mess with: even better, an infested tileset with Protoss ruins.
