Most of the principal characters fall into the first category. Hokuto, Sypha, and Cinder belong in 4 (although Hokuto can move freely, Sypha and Cinder had to be especially summoned by Count Zule in order to directly influence the world). Razlia the Twinflame, Gorbash, and Tessai belong in category 2 (although Gorbash needs a soul in order to run properly, as it's as dumb as a regular construct without one). The bulk of the Black Moon forces make up 3 (which is part of the reason they're almost constantly being attacked).
Razlia and Gorbash are both machines, Tessai is a mountain which has been brought to life by the use of magic....
I don't see how Nara, Garm the Sniper or Xevious the bright fit too well into that category, unless they've been brought back to life thought magic such that their bodies live on without a soul, or they are simply mechanical replicas of their formal selves....or perhaps inanimate objects brought to life (for example Nara was a suite of armor or a statue) or my last guess is that they are shells of their real selfs, for example Nara exists elsewhere and controls this shell through her will......lots of guessing...

Or maybe Purgatory has power over them?

Nargul the Puppetmaster used his necromantic abilities to revive and control the dead bodies of Garm, Xevious, and Ebon (all of which who died in previous levels). I'm mostly satisfied with how he turned out, considering Blizzard really didn't emphasize the Nathrezim psychic mind-raping aspect.

Nara is already undead, but she's not really under Nargul's power (nor is she affiliated with the Legion), and has a different reason for being there.

How does the burning legion fit into all of this?

The Burning Legion wants to turn Purgatory into a staging ground to enter the dimension which Earth resides (Earth is technically the closest thing to Purgatory considering it used to be a part of it). The Twisting Nether has no connection whatsoever to Earth, but Purgatory does (and Azeroth by extension, considering the Nerubians from the 'War of the Spider' era and the Trolls from the Aqir War era came from there), so the Legion (lead by the Nathrezim lord, Duke Shivak, who is currently in Sorceria) is taking advantage of it-- although not everything is going according to plan.

Thanks for answering our questions!

Something else I was wondering is if Scaldar is living in Books 1 and 2, why does he become undead starting from Book 3? Did he die sometime I'm not aware of? They're supposed to not be able to be controlled already because they aren't dreaming and they're in Purgatory physically, so I don't understand the benefit of making himself undead if he didn't die... perhaps, he was supposed to be undead from the very beginning?

This is off topic, but too bad about Johan, cause I'm going to really miss is bash attack  :P

The Undead status is more of a mechanic for the Nerubians in general so Scaldar could actually heal them with Death Coil (although I did later find out if I changed their 'Race' to 'Demon' that does the same thing).

Was there some sort of a side-quest mission in which Duke Shivak's as well as the legion's presence in purgatory was revealed or all this going to be first mentioned in book 6? I am just curious because upon replaying a few missions I've noticed that at the end of book 4 Dalles says something along the lines of "Duke Shivak is going to be upset now that there is no means of bringing back the fallen because Nargul got killed" and also Director Xine as well as Lord Braddle and Lady Veraft are mentioned by a Vektra lobster in a side-quest in the Metallus mission... Funny how I didn't notice these things the first time I beat that book...I guess I skipped a lot of side-quests because I was focusing mostly on beating the missions....

Same goes for me too. I didn't notice the side missions before. I had to replay the whole campaign over again to notice their existence.

Sometimes, these side missions actually help a lot in achieving your main objectives.

Hello,

I registered and reply primarily because I really wish to express my gratitude towards the creator of this. I know this thread is about discussing the progress of the 6th book, I hope my post will not be considered as too OT, however; I do not see any other possibility to tell the artist what great piece of work he created. I do not know how many people downloaded and played it, probably lots of; I intend to speak for many of them when I say, this probably enriched the life of many people, giving them the opportunity to forget about dullness and tristesse of their daily life.

I really admire such creativity. I honestly do not understand how one can become so creative considering the circumstances of daily existence. It`s not only the technical brilliance of creating games and campaigns, It`s not only creating sagas and storylines that Tolkien and C.S. Lewis would have considered worth telling, not mixing cultural fantasy formats into some kind of "new" thing, not the dedication and accuracy in creating characters of such a density, that can be found in classic Greek dramas, not the thousand features, branches, secrets, details, extras that one can find in this piece of art. I'm speaking of the ability to make people happy.

I had a brother, who recently died of lung cancer. He died quite slow and painfull and I think most of his last 2 years were nothing but one big sequence of suffering and pain. When the illness and the therapy took him the strength to get up, leave his hospital room, go outside, his only possibility to spend time were listening to music and playing this game. I myself was not much of a computer player, when I visited him he began to tell me of your campaign and how he enjoyed playing it. Really, it made him happy and he thoroughly spent the time to tell me about his progress with the characters, about the twists in the story, about everything. I think it gave him the ability to leave him pain behind for one or two hours. I want to thank the creator of that and I want you to know that he very much hoped to be seeing the last chapter.

After I buried him I myself becamce interrested in your work, simply because I wanted to know what was able to deflect him of such a painfull disease. I myself now became a huge fan of your work and it gives me the ability to leave this life of dullness and depression for a few hours. If there is anything I can do for you to progress or finish your work please let me know. I already thought of translating it into German (I happen to be one). Well, just an idea.....

Anyway, I became such a fan, that when recently my computer broke down; I bought a new one in a matter of 7 hours, just because I considered it as to dull with being without WoS. If I had waited, I maybe would have saved some money, but, without going a round with Fight Dragon or without working on the characters my day would be waster. I really can`t wait for the last book to come out to find out how it unfolds.

OK - post long, boring and OT. Sorry for that. Good luck for the progress. We will stay tuned.

Wow... I don't think I can follow that one up with anything meaningful. I'm sorry that your brother died. Yet, at the same time, I'm flattered that anyone could think such a thing about the campaign. Really, I am. I don't know what to say.

Before I found this forum, I actually thought Book 5 might have been the ending because otherwise, it makes me wonder how the narrator knows about the stuff that happens in Sorceria when he's in Purgatory, and Kurumi gave the journals to Rand... of course, I suppose he could've found out from someone who was at Sorceria at the time, or maybe they started new journals in Sorceria; and there's always a deus ex machina approach, like he developed psychic powers or divine intervention and stuff like that.

Also, is there going to be a 'Battle Arena' for Book 6? If there is going to be one, it would be nice if it had like Kosseimaru through the end- because it's final book. It'd also be cool if we could play as like Queen Arcadia, etc., and have characters fight against each other - I'd so reenact Chicka beating up Shion  ;D; it'd also give me more opportunity to use Sorana... cause I don't think she's much useful against say, the Ultimate Dragon, but she could work in a duel... maybe, against Shion  ;D...

Yeah, I structured Book 5 so it COULD be the end if for some reason I never put out Book 6. Almost everything is resolved by then save for a few hanging threads.

Sorana is a 'hidden' character in Book 6 (more or less, as it's not actually difficult to get her), and she's essentially a joke character-- her only goal is to get sex. She is, after all, a manifestation of Shizuka's repressed sex drive. Too bad most of the things in there are anatomically-incorrect.

Finally fixed a really awful lingering bug where the Stash wasn't getting transferred properly. I seriously don't know what was doing it.
