I have reason to believe the W drive is close to death and I am about to lose 2 terabytes of my oldest and most valuable data.
This is not unexpected, as the drive is one of the oldest in the machine along with the J drive (a samsung f3). For the last year or so it has produced a peculiar sound like it was being accessed (windows auto defrag was a common culprit for such sounds). However, during work with carbots google drive repeatedly locked this drive out of windows and forced me to restart to see it again.
Now the drive is continuing to make noises and has vanished on its own accord when I tried to do a file check on it.
I managed to get it to reappear and have blindly deleted a large amount of video content to immediately transfer its contents to the new Q drive for later sorting. Some of the video I deleted included the source for the encoded ff6 segments, some video I have processed, and some video I have not processed. I don't have time to sort it out. The time for risks is long past. This will hurt one of my unannounced projects heavily but whatever.
The data is 2 terabytes in size and contains some of my most valuable and difficult to find material, including my ancient gigafonts, my sound libraries, old project files, music, tools, the 2015 civ5 game that remains unprocessed, the encoded files for all of my video projects (including many not released or in limbo) and god knows what else.

It is basically all of my source data predating Apex work. The H drive contains the next largest portion of my data; those two drives are basically pure storage. They are what I wanted to replace/backup in 2014 for this exact reason. But... money.

Around $200-300. The bigger problem is I am on USB 2 and I cannot be entirely certain it is the drive and not the enclosure. Newer, larger drives don't function in the enclosures anyways.
I'm simply out of a drive.
I am pretty sure I have successfully copied everything off of the drive. It is now decommissioned.

Glad you got all the data copied off. I'm in the market for a few new drives as my oldest are getting close to 10 years old and one occasionally makes horrible noises and needs a little encouragement to show up in the list of drives when connected.
Granted the only thing I'd really be losing off the one is Bioshock Infinite and we both know how valuable those recordings are.

XXE 22 is being worked on.
I had enough money to buy a replacement 4tb external (prebuilt) that was on sale at NCIX. When it arrives I'll be parsing the backed up data and a lot of other stuff and put a real dent in the organizational troubles making a mess of my storage right now.
Ret tech doc will be a web page setup on gameproc. The video project portion is discontinued since I can't make the character graphics. I will be using UE4 for graphics where I can and I may yet make something audio-related for it.
My current priority for video projects is XXE 22 -> some castovers -> finally finishing ff6.
If I can get work on castovers done I am still confident I can make something out of winter but there's a lot of stress weighing me down still.

Ship pages will be added once I figure how exactly I am going to build the assets for them. I might just go with UE4 caps but I wanted a bit more. Animations are out of the question since gif won't give me any good results. I also need Schwa to send me the final document.

Schwa has handed me the final document. My priority is to get this project complete at long last. After or during I will focus on starting on some Castovers. There are some good ones waiting...
