Fiction update.

- Producer-san's Work Log 2 Basically looking at Shizuka Minazuki from an outsider's point of view. Since she was instrumental in Moonlight Prism's formative years understanding her influence is kind of important for him to know, but it's obviously not as straightforward as it sounds. And it really starts to question his 'good guy' VN protagonist viewpoint, which is hilarious to me.

Fiction update.

- Producer-san's Work Log 3 More on the continuing saga of the hapless Producer of Moonlight Prism.

I was going to post this last week, but I got busy and forgot.

If it seems like I'm throwing 'filler' out in a way I kind of am, because I haven't had a lot of time in the past couple months to finish editing Shizuka's actual next story because of all the planning and research involved around it.

I also reached a realization that I probably can't write a lot of Moonlight Prism stories anymore because their main story conflict is essentially over. Because I resolved the conflict with their main antagonists they aren't dealing with a world where they need to constantly prove themselves anymore, but in a way perhaps it is for the best, since every character doesn't need to live a soap opera style life. Not that they're going to disappear or anything, just have a relatively 'normal' life (kind of how like Miranda hasn't gotten a story in forever because I don't have another outlet for her self-centered morality gimmick right now)

Fiction update.

- Crimson Orchid The latest story about Shizuka.

Time to come clean. I worked on this for a VERY long time. I outlined this one out at first as a one and done movie project, but it ballooned from there because more things started happening because Shizuka decided to join this film. And for a time I was thinking of separating it into two parts, but the obvious break point made one side incredibly lopsided, so I gave up and kept it together.

And another thing that happened was that I was largely resistant to posting this because it's actually a huge milestone for Shizuka's character arc and because of what I ended up with in a way I hit a narrative dead end with her like I did with Moonlight Prism. And by posting this I have to admit that her story as it was for the past year or more (I don't remember when I started writing) is over.
Spoiler
Fundamentally Shizuka's biggest character flaw was her recklessness; during Wanderers of Sorceria it manifested in a disregard for her own life, something which she doesn't overcome by the end of the campaign. And in the stories she largely retained that attitude. And when she became a model and actress that recklessness manifested in an excuse of 'for the art' and was inadvertently 'enabled' by Yuki. So the story of Crimson Orchid is, in a way, Shizuka having to confront that her recklessness is a huge liability to herself and the people around her.
I don't know what I'm going to do with writing from this point, but hopefully it won't be such a huge long 'epic' or something. So if you actually read this, thank you and I hope you enjoyed a messy ride.

Meant to post when the 2026 Academy Awards came around, but the site was having trouble.

In retrospect I think the story arc where I visited it in 'Crimson Orchid' was the prevailing attitude toward it ten years ago. It's probably harder to imagine the same kind of thing happening today, but not everything has resolved since then.

Sorry, sorry! I'm actually working on it currently, believe it or not! The downtime was our host calling it all suspicious activity. I'm reaching out to Q to try to stabilize the domain itself as he owns the .org address, meanwhile I'm trying to get everything PHP dependent working, apologies in advance for any short forum downtime, and feel free to reach out if it's happening because it shouldn't be!

I've been trying to work out an actual timeline instead of playing fast an loose with the story like I had been doing; the first third and the last third are actually pretty reasonably mapped out. The MIDDLE THIRD is a horrible spaghetti mess, although I think I wasn't as stupid as I thought about it.

No changes so far. Saw the Warcraft III Reforged update on the Blizzcon stream. But to be honest I still haven't touched it in a few years so I wouldn't know what to do with it. It certainly looks interesting enough, I guess, but I wonder what the motivation is behind making Forsaken Kingdom.

Although I love that Heroes of the Storm isn't dead again.

Well hell, I discovered a major mistake with the Coming of Age ceremony that appeared in my story which means I need to advance some of the events one year ahead. Oops.

Although it SEEMS like it would be okay to just cut it out of the story and place it later? I don't think there's anything particularly story related in that section, it was more of a timestamp. Still have to re-edit things later.

This is becoming a bit of a headache since I was playing fast and loose with the timeline in the first place and trying to fix things like this is confusing.

Had to create new account, can't reset old ones. Saw news about new campaign, I think your one is still superior in terms of gameplay and story! This not what I expected from Blizzard campaign after all this years. RPG without RTS.

I am glad you still alive and kicking, but what happened to WOS site? Can't access it. Will it be up?

It's still up, and I'm not really sure when it ever went down. From what I understand Forsaken Kingdom is going to be like the Rexxar campaign, but I'm not sure if I really want to play it.

I honestly don't know if I should even try to make WoS work in current Reforged. I know there are workarounds to make it work, but that thought really irritates me. On the other hand that basically means redoing the campaign from scratch since a lot of the things that worked in pre-Reforged don't work in Reforged (especially the saved info which is the real backbone of the whole thing, that's what demoralized me from the whole thing in the first place because I was so proud of myself for it)

I've also been re-editing my older stories and I found out I did something stupid and basically wrote a same scene twice (involving the same character). The funny thing is the later version was just plain better than the first version, so copy-paste over the old one because it deserved that.

Something I realized when going over 'Anthology 8' is a lot of it is just pure filler crap. And I think I actually introduced a minor character twice. That was really weird.

The new Magic Knight Rayearth anime is starting and the first episode is pretty much the old story with modern tech.

I've said this several times over the years, but Book 1 of Wanderers of Sorceria is pretty much a take on the first part of the story right down to the plot twist and the 'evil lair' with the waterfalls (this is probably even more apparent in the original Reign of Chaos version of it since there were less playable levels in it; later versions put a lot more attention on the antagonist side of the story). Of course that's pretty much the extent of its influence (no giant mecha, no party of magical girls, and the antagonists were more inclined to fight to the death), but it is there. I'm sure if I tried to do the thing from scratch I'd do a lot of things differently than I did instead of relying on Rule of Cool nonsense, but that probably is why it has its 'unique' flavor.
