Re: Warlords and Merchants is now public!
I see ... then can you post said replays on this thread? :p
I would like to see how it was played since I don't know how the W&M gameplay would concretely be on this terrain.
Just to be sure, what you mean by "forced on the sides"?

I can E-mail you the replay if you want.
Also "forced" may be the wrong choice of words, I guess I felt there was not much "reason" to into the middle, and the game could be played just by going up and down the sides. Not that its a bad thing, just something I felt. Of course either way I want to play it again, just had that one go at the map.

You don't even need to e-mail them. :p
To add files on a post :
1) If you are in quick reply mode, Hit "Full Editor".
2) Below the 3 buttons ("Save", "Preview" and "Submit"), you will see "upload attachment", click it.
3) Then click "Browse..." to get the filepath of the file then click "Add the file"
4) Repeat #2 and #3 for all wanted extra files (I think up to 5 or 10 files max).
5) Go hit the earlier "Submit" button to send your post attached with your wanted files.
Note : If the forum don't want to accept your files, you probably need to compress them into a .zip file to get them accepted.
I attached a dummy text called "aaa.txt" to this very post.

lol banshees are also insta lose bro, they are too expensive and way too easy to counter (see: my game with AA7 that I haven't edited/posted yet ololol)
but then again almost no one knows what to do with vikings much less banshees so maybe it can still work on them T.T

The one game on "Warlords and Merchants" I got flat lucky with start location, being on the side of the map with no opponent.
Luckily both replays were in my "Recent Games" folder.

Ah thanks for the replays, Krazy.
EDIT : By the way Mesk, I wouldn't be surprised that those replays will be much saner than those I sent you (since I know you are scared about that last replay I sent you).
Plus, it pretty much shows the "real" maps that most people would play on anyway. For your commentary, the "Warlords and Merchants" named one is for the 4 melee,6 max public one that I am even currently boosting.

Re: Warlords and Merchants is now public!
Lawl, but my laptop probably suck too much to see the replay properly right now. On top of it, I still have to use my laptop to boost the main W&M map's popularity so I am not exactly at a good position to watch the replays either way.IskatuMesk wrote:you saved ricky from suicide of boredom
So ill probably watch them when I get my main computer back.
EDIT : For doing absolutely nothing while I host boosting games, I get 15 FPS on my laptop on lowest settings. Absolutely no action whatsoever and only 4 merchant workers in the game.

Re: Warlords and Merchants is now public!
I just thought of a little something.
One thing that might help as well would be posting those replays on the b.net SC2 forums so they have a more visual idea of what's in it. Thus, I would prefer to have the agreement of everyone involved in those replays especially Bishotron as he is the newest one around.
In addition, I will probably tell how to find Mesk's videos of W&M (even if they are old). Better than W&M looking like yet another map to forget.

I am always fine with being in replays.
It would have to be a very VERY shameful match to have me not wish to be reviewed.

Re: Warlords and Merchants is now public!
So I am currently more boosting the map lately so that it stays at around the 2nd page of popularity for the "Melee" category (not "Custom" or "All"). To be honest, I don't know how many people do play the public version of W&M as I don't want to join any games with my crappy laptop. Although people should have a reasonable chance to play with some pubbies at least.
As for the publicity aspect, I fear I still in a bit of a bad situation. Ill probably need more videos (which ill need my main computer to record). In addition, even if I want to reference Mesk's videos, he is now in his SC2 campaign posting spree which if B.Net 2.0 game lists are of any indication, people will just not bother to search for the W&M videos at this moment. The replays alone just won't pull it off.
So my plan is to let the official thread on the B.net forums "dies" until I do have the proper videos "to come back" with a mini-bang (as in something that joeblows would care). Ill probably also wait until Mesk finally post a newer video of W&M as well so I can reference it. Although it will probably just get those extra days of view over b.net and that's it.
In the first two days, the W&M thread on b.net only had 45 views meanwhile I estimate around 5-20 real games per day (if we exclude my fake boosting games). Unfortunately it can be a bit hard to estimate properly as I am not 100% sure how the popularity specifics exactly work.
In other words, it might be better to just bet on adding an obvious site reference back to CC inside my map and perhaps do something more concrete here on CC (like some minor website for Warlords & Merchants) instead of relying on publicity via the official b.net forums as too few are actually watching the specific thread over b.net to really matter.
Finally, boosting is annoying as I can easily spent 1-2 hours per day doing just the "maintenance boosting" while I did spent like 5-6 hours the first time just to make W&M visible on the Melee category. Odds are ill stop after 1 or 2 week as I will obviously not boost eternally. The only exception might be "lazy boosting" after I get my main computer (host then re-host after noticing it like 30 minutes to 2 hours later that I still have the game on).
EDIT : My only other solid option would be mass boost like mad (like every 5-6 minutes flat) over multiple days just to make it very visible even in the "All" category (which at the moment it's visible at page 6-7 of it).

Re: Warlords and Merchants is now public!
Why would mesk posting new videos change anything? Just link or embed the videos relevant to you.
You could even create a playlist of w&m games from mesk and link to your playlist. That way you could keep them in order etc.
