Blizzard to push ahead on modmaking

Post by DrumsofWar »

This might finally be the push in leading the charge in modmaking that Blizzard had always alluded to since Beta.
“We’ve got some mods we’ve developed internally that we’re going to put out to get some more art into the hands of the mod makers but also provide what we hope are some polished gameplay experiences for our fans to get more value out of Battle.net.”
Dustin Browder

Dustin browder called maps mods not once but twice in another interview.

He does not know what a mod is, so he's probably still referring to maps. You'll probably see what they gave you in wc3.

He's talking about providing lots of source material, which would mean something larger than just a garden variety custom map - which they already have a ton of succeeding already without this effort by Browder's people.

Effort would've been pushing out the content they were showing off at Blizzcon with the game, they really aren't "leading" anything with this.

It's also going to be nothing but maps.

This is as much pushing ahead with modding as b.net 2.0 is pushing ahead with their online service.

You mean the thing that should've been in release? Hardly. It sounds like they want to push out more minigames.

That would be fairly sad considering that the players have done more with the editor in a month than they did in half a year. Maybe this is just their attempt to catch up then.

Doubt it. They definitely wouldn't be pulling staff of the HoTS.

Still beating that dead horse, huh? I honestly don't think you know what a mod is. Or maybe you've forgotten.

Cute. No matter how much shit they gave you in the original launch of the game, you would consider anything extra (for free even) they give you afterwards to be a lack of effort on their part. lol. Especially since even if its maps, they mentioned new art, so its not just maps.

lol.

How about those plugins they made the game with or are those still incomplete? how about functional game variants and teams? oh maybe an AI that won't hardlock itself because theres a cloaked nearby it can't detect.

Do we need to pay monthly to get those fixed/released like the rediculous storage limitations because we can't even load mod data locally that can't function without the map that depends on its existance?

Want to know what a mod is? its something that doesn't require assets to depend on it to work or arbitrary limitations because publishers are scared shitless of piracy. But you probably just blank out the UT series/DoW/TQ/GD/AoW2/NWN/FO3/OB/FS2/Source and countless other games.

Now its all CONTROL CONTROL CONTROL.

Feel free to keep acting like a lapdog incapable of even answering if modding the way we did it in SC/WC3 is going to leave us short $100 because of 2.0.

You're a bad troll. Go back to slinking in the darkness and doing nothing useful.

I dunno man I think having an editor that worked correctly in the first place and an online service that facilitated the same level of custom content possible in SC1/D2/Wc3 isn't too much to ask but I guess when clueless twigs like you are involved logic just crumbles to dust.

I don't care about art, I want a functional system to work with in the first place. Art means nothing if you can't use it for anything proper.

Get a clue and make a proper post for a change.

Getting really tired of you taking every chance you have to try to discredit something I've said in vain futility. This is the worst such post yet.
