who still buys ipods these days? In fact, why buy an mp3 player at all? I'll just carry around a boom box so EVERYONE can listen to my goat sounds on loop.

Our new iPod, it's newer than our old iPod! Huzzah!

You obviously haven't a clue about how important a hyper dense display is on an mp3 player or how it'll absolutely ruin the battery life so you can hump the Lady Gaga album cover without seeing the pixel grid!

I don't know why there is any bashing or illusion of a market split between the two. As far as I'm concerned, Apple is just another hardware assembler just like Dell or HP that happens to have created its own OS.

When it started going into MP3 players, it was a field already held by Samsung and other hardware manufacturers. Apple just happened to have a more popular design and a much better product image.

Most mp3 players are rip offs. I bought some cheap 30 dolar one and I've had it for like 4 years, fuck iPods.

I've owned 3 iPods, all Nanos, the first generation, which stood strong the longest and was by far the most durable MP3 player I've ever owned, and the fourth and fifth generation.

I'd of stuck to the fourth generation had it not been washed and in my panic I turned it on even though it was fully salvageable if I let it dry properly. I purchased the fifth generation, it's nice, does it all.. All I never need to do with an MP3 player- Plays radio, takes pictures, video, pedometer, what an amazing jumble of unnecessary utilities.

Zunes were better than iPods in the smaller models, but they decided to stop selling them and now Microsoft is just selling bricks.

Funny how everyone says "other stuff" is better than Apple's every time Apple products come up.

As for the "durability" arguments... Who wants their shitty brick like a Creative or some other brandless Mp3 player (or haha, Zune) to last 3+ years anyway? iPods can last for years, but they're the kind of things you'll want to replace after 3-4 years. Don't want to spend your money on 'em? Fine, noboby's forcing you. Kinda lame to bash Apple instead, though.

@Hunter_killers (who was the first to obey my command): Yeah.

So wait, when you get an iPod, you're going to have to replace it in a few years when the new version of Flash Drive With Headphones™ comes out? People probably like their "shitty bricks" to last, because they don't want to buy the exact same product over and over again. Just a hunch.
