No viewpoint until supported by Blizzard- Because it's not quite appealing to see that Dark Templar. Hah.

Did you read the thread, Lav?  Karune chimed in saying that the scans are legit.

Just to confirm, these units revealed are official units that are being tested and played with in the current version of StarCraft II. Feel free to speculate, but always know that there is more information about all of these units, that'll be released over the coming months.

In the words of Dustin, "Nothing you see here is FINAL."

Enjoy
-Karune

Besides, you can see Dark Templar here and they appear to have cloaks unlike that picture, so don't expect the models to be final either.

gfg, in that case: the Dark Templar look ugly. And so do the tanks in that picture, thankfully a "noted" was received by Karune about that.

Yeah, tanks in siege mode are among the least popular units. That ought to be fixed ASAP. :P

Soul Hunters and DTs seem worse tho, but the DT in the IGN pic is actually quite decent. The HT in Karune's avatar is cool as well - much better than the horrible HT in the Swedish magazine, at least.

I live in scandinavia....I might be able to translate the stuff....

Dark templar: powerful dark templar. the other match was over in 15 minutes when a german busted into my base with 3 dark templars and destroyed it. (unable to translate)

article two
Viking fighter: say hi to the terran's transformer. The viking can change form from that of a flyer to that of a robot. its useful for flying to your opponents base and (unable to translate/unreadable)
Supply depot: it can pack itself up and go underground so that your units can pass. it works like a (unable to translate)

article three
marine: starcraft would (unable to translate) without the marines in the terran armada.
planetary fortress: the terran command center can be upgraded into a planetary fortress. it is a headquarter with a powerful (unable to translate)weapon attacked to it.
Thor: (unable to translate)named thor which got its name from a god, (uable to translate) can pick up with his own hand.
Sensor dome: with this tower you can detect enemy units on the map when (unable to translate)

Interesting.  The Planetary Fortress has a lot of "defenses?"  As in the plural sense?  I wonder what it does besides blasts units with that cannon.

One Thor can assault an entire base?  I find this strange how the Terrans have such super units while the Protoss are far more selective with micromanagement.
I have seen the Desler.  I have tasted of his milk and honey.

Well I really enjoy the idea of having the transformer!!  It definitely goes along with the whole versatility of the Terrans idea that Blizzard portrays.

It is official now: SOUL HUNTER IS OUT! http://www.battle.net/forums/thread.aspx?fn=sc-general&t=210968&p=1&#post210968

By Dustin Browder:
We have a lot of units going into StarCraft 2 right now. Many of these units you have already seen, others you havent had a chance to hear about yet. We have a few rules for our units:

1) A unit should have a cool personality. A unit must be something that is fun to play with.

2) A unit should have their own very unique role on the battlefield.

3) A unit should be fun for the enemy to try to deal with. Generally this means good strengths and interesting weaknesses.

Theres a lot more to it of course (how intuitive it is, will it balance well, etc) but thats the basics. Right now we have a lot of units on the Protoss. Not every Protoss unit you have heard about is going to make the cut. They are in training camp. We put them in the game and we see how they do. We compare them to some other units and see how much overlap there is between various units in the game. We compare units that are similar and then we make the call. Which unit is cooler? Which unit has a more unique role? Which unit is more fun to fight against?

Sometimes units will get cut. For example, the Soul Hunter is not going to show at Blizzcon. He appears to have failed his training period. He was kind of cool, but not cool enough. Some other units that you have seen are going through some significant changes. They have adapted and may yet survive. Thats how we do it. Being able to try units out before we decide if they are going to be in the game or not is a huge advantage for our development process and its an opportunity that not every developer gets. Well give you more specific information on the Protoss as we figure it out. Even what you see at Blizzcon will be work-in-progress. After Blizzcon things will most definitely continue to evolve.
Great news.  ;D

I kind of feel sorry for the Silver Surfer - it was cool looking unit, but it had no place in the Protoss. I'd feel weird if I was storming their base and faced Zealots, Immortals... and then Soul Hunters.
