Why Book 4 doesn't work on patch 1.23?

I read the post that on  1.24 book 4,5, and 6 are unplayable.

So I used System something(don't remeber the name) to turn Warcraft 3 to patch 1.23

But still, after I click the book 4 intro part, the screen suddenly gets dark and nothing happens.

If I press ALT+TAB computer returns to normal screen, but when I press the warcraft again the screen justs fades.

I really don't know what is the problem

p.s: I've tried book 5 and it also doesn't work.

I think it's related to patch 1.24 problem.

But why I can't play the campaign even on patch 1.23?

It was broken like this initially when RCX did a bugfix release. It's been fixed since, so if that's when you downloaded it, try downloading it again.

Um, downloaded it again this time, but still won't work.

i uninstalled warcraft and reinstalled it and patched the patches manually, and it worked since then.

I'm fairly sure System Restore doesn't work that way.

I was really into this great epic and was quite distressed when I couldn't play it.
