I don't recall Blizzard ever promising it would be out in 2008...

You have no idea how ignorant the readers of wired.com are, haha. Or.. Commenters, I should say.

Evidently, you haven't read Youtube comments.  There are entire Weekend Webs full of them.

At least he's cool.

To stay on topic,  I kinda agree with this Vaporware thing. Especially about SC2 being released in pieces. I've said this before, and I know that there are tons of good reasons why Blizzard is doing this, and most of them really good reasons no doubt, but when I heard it, I was like WTF!? Sure, sure, storylines, more character development etc... but WTF, right? It's a bleeping game! It's  supposed to be complete, in a box and you put em in your computer and you can play the whole thing right away if you absolutely want to, or save some of it for later.

Now it'll be like "Remember what Raynor said in mission 72?" "What the hell was that protoss structure, man, in that jungle area near the river in level 64?"

I guess that's the 21st century for you.

The funny thing is.. They planned to have this entirely completed over a year ago.. And now they say "it's so epic, it needs three releases." ... Imagine how bad it was going to be before.

It's sad. At least we'll be able to start making campaigns with the first release.

I don't understand? I just mentioned that the fact they opted to release it in three different releases is an even better decision, as it allows for more content. For all we know, they rewrote the script/story/etc entirely simply to give it three releases.

I dont mind.  I know Blizzard will handle it right, because they handle a lot of other things correctly.  I can only imagine the plethora of content we will gain from each new release.  As someone who intends to make his campaigns in the years to come, having the game go retail every 1-2 years with new content will ensure that my work will get the maximum exposure.  I only hope I can meet the challenge this time and defeat my immortal enemy;  procrastination.
