Classic Campaigns
Does anyone know if the classic Warcraft I & Warcraft II campaigns have ever been recreated in the custom campaigns for Warcraft III? I was just wondering because I felt like playing through them again to get reacquainted with the story lines and it just sounded like a cool idea. I mean I know they wouldn't be exactly like the classic ones, but I'll gladly trade the change for not the ability to have control groups and it looking nice. Thanks

Re: Classic Campaigns
Two points:
1. Recreating the campaigns would be quite pointless since the gameplay is so different. I suppose it would be easy to create but not particularly satisfying.
2. If you really want to catch up on the story, check out the briefing text files that are available on the net (I think I have them somewhere, ask me if you can't find them). Since, unlike SC, there was no in-game text then you're not missing any of the story.
I did try to create some mission designs for a WarCraft 1 Conversion (It was called the WC1Con) based on the WC1 missions that would be set in WC3, but the conversion was too much to produce. You may want to check out Realm Design, they've been making an even better production for years:

Re: Classic Campaigns
If you'd like projects in production mentioned, there's also Heart of Storms, here's a project summary of features.
You'll see an updated website that's currently in production by Rommel and myself at Campaign Creations soon.
This project has constant updates on their forum: http://forum.samods.org/http://www.camp ... .php?f=4.0Features:
Campaign/story
- The multi-layered plot closely follows the events of Warcraft I and II, but at the same time interweaves them into an entirely different story;
- The epic conflict is shown through the eyes of characters who just try to find their way rather than becoming great heroes;
- Along with known 'old friends', two new races are introduced, ones never seen before in the world of Warcraft: the enigmatic Shadow Elves of the Aether Cult, worshippers of an Old Goddess; and poweful Stygians, an ancient race of sentient machines, the arch-enemies of both the Burning Legion and Naaru;
- The story takes a step from standard fantasy cliches, to unexpected plot twists, slightly more mature content (it doesn't refer to anything breaching PG-13 rating limit, however) and overall darker atmosphere;
- Plot is approved by Warcraft lore specialists and has no contradictions to Blizzard canon.

Re: Classic Campaigns
thanks for the suggestions guys. It wasnt really that i needed caught up so much as i wanted to see if it was actually all there. I played warcraft 1&2 when I was about 6 years old or so and now that I've read all of the books(currently readying Beyond the Dark Portal) I wanted to see if it was all really in the games.

Re: Classic Campaigns
Saga of Azeroth by Deicide is an old campaign that tells events from the WC1 campaign, on the Horde's side. It only shows part of the campaign, as it got cancelled soon after the release of the 1st episode. Unfortunately, that's the only campaign that shows events from WC1 or 2.
As for the time between WC2 and WC3, Med. Map Guy (I think) made two adaptations of official books: Day of the Dragon and Lord of the Clans. Both of his campaigns are well made IMHO.
