No. If I'm going to play Metal Slug, it will not be on SC2.
That's beside the point. My point was that i is known as a good and fun map, and big surprise, it exists before retail

Sreg, you believe people wont produce anything worthy of anyone's time for months, like WarCraft 3's result was. However, even in beta with a limited editor the results have been outstanding so far.

Anywho, Blizzard has stated in regards to international players trying to play together they are looking into ways to allow this feature since the main issue was to decrease latency in for players looking for a serious melee game. This does not apply so much with custom maps as it's all in good fun for players at this point.

From the latest news (or excuse?) I heard, Blizzard's main issue about not having cross-realm was that it still didn't implement a financial paying system for international proposes for premium maps (ex : an European player wanting to pay a USA player's premium map).

Although I still find it annoying since to the worst, they could just disable the feature rather than barring cross-realm altogether because of that. As for the latency reason, I find it annoying too since most players will play on their own regional servers for the best latency.

I wouldn't say the maps created so far aren't impressive, but that is not what I'm addressing; there are many impressive maps, for their technical features, but not many good maps, for the quality, depth, and entertainment value of gameplay and balance. The original Defense of the Ancients was impressive at a time when custom objects through slk editing was the very pinnacle of modding, but that doesn't mean it was a good map.

“But, as we stated regarding cross region support, it’s something we’re working to implement after the launch of the game and it will allow you to connect to other regions should you choose to do so; as I mentioned, we’ve taken steps and are continuing to work with local ISPs on ensuring Oceanic players have as fast [and] as reliable a connection to our Southeast Asia datacentre as possible.”

I'm glad they announced this. That only leaves the upload limit as a big issue, but that is hardly a deal breaker. Gentlemen, I think we may have a deal.

So this is yet another victim of their exalted premium content system? I guess I shouldn't be surprised. There's already the problem of not being able to play maps that are only published on other realms. Stupid central planning grumble grumble..

(Apologies on 'edit,' Xenon, that was my mistake I hit edit instead of quote.)

Right.

Ricky, I'm going to need a source on that consider millions of players pay for World of WarCraft from all over the world. Explain that one.

Can be quite annoying to find that blue post again somewhere that said that information in response to some random poster's question. Already quickly searched 50 pages and I didn't find it.

However, I believe you are missing part of it. Basically it would mean is an issue between payment between international PLAYERS (and not Blizzard itself). In WoW's case, I believe it is fairly easy since Blizzard is the sole benefactor with corporation support. They more or less only need a billing management per major continent/nation/country or whatever area size to deal with the payments.

Then whatever currency type, credit card or debit source has limited impact if they convert it into USA dollars down the road with whatever financial corporation for each area they use about it.

The issue as far as I understand is say you are from the USA and you want to pay a random Chinese guy's premium map. Your current type are American dollars from a MasterCard and the other guy is dealing with yuan (Chinese money) and uses ChienCha (imaginary name) Card.

Now there might be some minor issues for this specific case due to international stuff. Now consider that Blizzard would have to consider every nation-to-nation, payment type-to-payment type, currency-to-currency combo worldwide combined with all the various odd policies that there might be there. Can potentially be a nightmare.

For each individual major area to itself (ex : North America to North America), it's probably much less painful since there would be direct conversions from the various combos (ex : US dollars to Canadian dollars, Master Card to Visa, etc.) that Blizzard can probably benefit from each major area.

To the worst, feel free to consider all the above as bullshit. I really don't feel like searching a long time in Blizzard forums just for that.

They already deal with those issues with WoW. And players don't pay players, they play Blizzard, and Blizzard pays the players.

It's a specific detail that should have crossed my mind but somehow didn't. Anyway, regardless if there was truly a blue post or not as I claim, said blue post's reason wouldn't hold well.

Although, the latency reason still seem a bad excuse (if we exclude tourneys) to not implement cross-realm yet. That's especially with battle.net servers to backup latency (as opposed to rely on the player host's connection) in general.

EDIT : Okay, still would like more answers/opinions for the original thread's purpose.

2. Custom maps, own projects, melee
3. Saturday, any time
4. I dunno, but I can't do Sunday anything so whatever.

EDIT: Alamo CHAR

So with Tipereth weighting in and wanting Saturday on top of Frizby. I know the rest should be relatively fine with Saturday.

Thus the current compromise would change to the following while trying to please everyone as reasonably as possible :

SC2 Event :
Saturdays 9 pm GM -5:00 until probably 1 am to 3 am (from Sundays 7 pm GM -5:00 of the last compromise)

SS Event :
Sundays 11 pm GM -5:00 until 1 am or 2 am (from Saturdays 11 pm GM -5:00)
Remainder - SS will now be mostly just to play TGS and  1-2 other maps most SS players would care the most (ex : Castle Fight) or want to test.

Saturday is fine by me. It just depends on what schedule I have for college this year plus work hours.

I'll be late. Every time. Just a forewarning. I get off work at 6PM.

Not doing cross-realm because latency issue is just a lame excuse. I honestly don't mind having 0.5-1.0s delay and some lags.

By the way, I still don't find a way to get the US disc other than getting an import one which will probably get taxed for 30% of original cost, also there are 2 bonus materials for whoever pre-order before 27th from my local store (and those are really tempting me). So I may miss the first few months if I don't get the US disc and hopefully Bliz will just implement cross-realm play.
