It looks like not many people were aware of it, as I thought. Even of the people who were working with the editor, very few actually tried to publish, and of those there were plenty with no "offending" text to make the censor apparent.

Too bad the topic will soon be buried without some attention. I would like to see it float to the surface of that cesspool.

Apparently battle.net is now enforcing file checks and you can't mod sound files anymore.

/edit

Okay I think what happened is they actually removed the ability to use folders to replace data (like they did in WoW). I'm still not sure why these guys are saying this guy's sound pack crashes though because there's no XML files and we just tested modding the mpq with sounds and there is no desync or crash.

This is odd...

I just went on battle net, and turned the filter on, to test what words it would take.  As it turns out, "god" and "suicide" aren't filtered.

Neither is the word "butt," which I distinctly remember being blocked in an earlier version.  Yes, "butt."  Was blocked before.  Is not blocked anymore.  "Damn" and "hell" are also not blocked.  Actually, the whole reason I wanted to test it was to see what would happen if Blizzard's filter were applied to the entire game.  I was thinking that "Hellion" would be "#@%^ion," but I was wrong.  Assassin is not censored.  Cockpit is not censored.  However, the questionable letters by themselves are.

You could have a random string of characters with those letters thrown in, and it would not be censored, but by themselves, they are.  This is not true for other words, which I won't list all of them, because Lav would probably be Mr. Grumpypants.

I don't know if that filter still applies to maps, or if maps have a separate filter.  Or if Blizzard just forgot to change the editor's filter to reflect the bnet filter.

Still does. However, now it doesn't show up WHICH words are currently censored. It pretty much require trial and error to know now which is a pain for those that have written full stories.

Currently trying with :
God - censored
Suicide - censored
Butt - censored
Damn - censored

White - not censored
Black - not censored
Hell - not censored

Anyway, I don't feel trying longer one by one but it gives an idea.

It apparently doesn't check text tags.  I even added other words that I checked on battle net that ARE censored, they got published, too.  Weird.

In my case, I added the testing words I used in the map description.

It let me upload, but it censored it (My filter is off in that screenshot)

EDIT:  Photobucket is being weird for me right now, so if that image doesn't show up, it's a screenshot of the map selection screen, showing my map with a description of !@#$.  I put a censored word in there, and it allowed me to upload it.

I have yet to get it to refuse an upload.

I thought publishing was disabled. you can still upload?

I also take it your chat filter is already disabled.

Does it censor during the game itself?

It was disabled until today or so. They re-enabled it again.

Publishing is back up now.

My filter is disabled.

It does not censor during the game.  Ricky can't upload something with a filtered word in the map description, so I have no idea what's going on.

Here's a hilarious discovery, locking a map doesn't actually do anything.

EDIT: More specifically they only delete the GUI trigger data and leave the actually galaxy script generated from it untouched.
