Since I haven't been online on these forums for long, I haven't had the chance to congratulate you. In the past we've had good and also some bad relations (these last ones due to my bigheadedness, I must recognize that). After this long break, though, I'm a new man, and I hope we can get along in the near future. Congratulations on your 1st prize!

Regards.

What ever happened to VE2? Is that still in production? Or are you saving it for SC2?

Oh, and it looks like I forgot to congratulate you as well. Congrats! Great campaign!

Thanks a lot guys!  :)

tbc> VE2 mod-wise has been finished for quite some time now.  However, I've been persuaded not to make a public release of it unless I include a campaign.

Better off just waiting for sc2. Who cares if the melee is boring, just rebuild Vanilla and go from there bro.

Though, do keep in mind, there will always be an audience for StarCraft 1.

Of course there always be. In my opinion, there always will be the nostalgy of playing SC1 like the old days, when people talked about SC1 and SC2 hadn't been announced. Both games can't really be compared. They are entirely different. Different engines, and technologies, as well as in-game features, characteristics and properties. SC1 revolutionated the gaming industry when it was released. So, even after SC2 comes out, I will be one of those who will still be playing SC1, even if it's only to remember the old, good times. :)

Audience isn't the problem here. The problem is being able to create what it is you want to create. Laconius wanted to do a lot of things I had to tell him were not possible in sc1 because of very basic and known limitations. SC's triggers and terrain options also leave a great deal to be desired - problems mostly solved in wc3, and problems surely solved in sc2. With sc2 so close, it's pointless to limit yourself to either wc3 or sc1 now. Do what Oracle is doing - make your assets and write out your game document and scripts, then pull out the workload when the editor arrives and make your campaign all it can be.

:o holy hot sex, those portraits are sexy.  Where'd you find them?  Or did you edit them yourself? D:  Man, I wish I knew how to edit recordings to make them sound like protoss.  I just sound like a redneck. -.-

You are doing a great job, Laconius. You are managing to preserve the same atmosphere which make us fall in love with VE 1. Now, if you allow me, I'd like to ask a few questions.
Spoiler
First, when is VE 2 set? I mean, since the Dark Templar trio reappeares here, I don't know if this is a continuation of VE 1 or just a backstory for them, explaining their purposes for doing what they did in VE 1?

Second. Will you place the trio as the primary antagonists, like you did in VE 1, or instead will you give the player the chance of playing the story from their viewpoint, with them as protagonists?
Also, the terrain from that large bridge-platform looks a but weird in some places but, well, because of the limitations of SC1 terrain editing it is understable.

Anyway, this looks promising as always. ;) Hoping for more videos. Good luck!
