You can use Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. (I used the last one). There are many options within them, with which you'll be able to make your own loading screen (however the only thing I did was to modify one of SC's images). When you're finished, remember to save it as .pcx (I think it only work with this...) ;)
My photoshop skills are horrendous. You should see my splash screen. In fact, I'll post it when I get home from work. I immediately ran into a stupid little problem: how to remove the words "brood war" without it being obvious they were removed.

Oh yeah, I also noticed you should always PASTE your new splash screen ONTO the original one or it doesn't show up. Must be something to do with the pallette (ooh the layman uses big words).

And you must put them (your title.pcx) into 256 colors, otherwise it won't work...

UPDATE 21st June 2009

I've redesigned the campaign. I thought that 30 maps would be too much work to do in 6 weeks, so I've removed the Terran episode and shortened the other two. The campaign will now focus on the Protoss, though there'll be several Zerg playable missions too. I'm going to add a (Protoss) prologue campaign too, with most missions focusing on the end of the Brood War.

I'm uploading the video of the first mission of the prologue episode (it'll be posted soon). This mission will be, basically, the Omega map from the BW Zerg campaign. However, this time, instead controlling the Zerg, you'll be given control over the Protoss tribe (a different point of view of the battle! ;))

Its interesting how people now start using video's to show off work where years ago it was barely screenshots. Interesting development that. Let's see it.

A video can show more that a hundred screenshots. Unfortunately, the video I want to show to you is a bit large to upload (134 mb) so it'll take a while before I can post it. :P

That's actually not interesting at all!

In a contest, which is calculated anyhow already so scarcely, to have still the time to create videos is, I think, not so smartly.

I don't think it takes away any significant portion of time - these videos aren't being edited anyway, just basically record a bit, splice it up, and post it.  Although time is a factor for me, I've devoted about 40% of my conscious time  to this contest since it started and I still feel like I'm behind.  I playtest the maps to a fault though, and since there are two difficulty modes, that makes it even more time consuming.

What program are you using to record your videos?

Did anyone else notice that his menu just said MEN and then a wierd symbol?

As far as the gameplay is concerned, looks interesting. Although 100 damage for the Zealot hero seems like alot to me.

In your mission objectives it said that you have to kill the orange zerg, and you can't kill the purple zerg, but how are you going to differentiate between the colors?

Growler Guncam. ;)

I know. That's 'cause I'm testing a new font for the dialogues, etc. of the game. While for characters' dialogues it works fine, for other uses some letters change to weird symbols. Perhaps it wasn't a good idea to change the font after all... :-\

Yeah, you're right. Curiously, I only gave him 50 damage. I need to fix it. :-[

I'm working on it. But I think it'd be a lot easier iif Blizzard had added a 'Player kills at least number unit of Player' trigger condition...
