Since almighty Lavarinth doesn't want to enlight us with his dark and dirty secrets about this issue here, I have decided to put in another possible solution.
1. Take a simple carton with enough height, width and depth.
2. Go to your favorite home-improvement market (DIY-market) and buy some convoluted foam. Don't worry, it's cheap stuff! (Online alternative)
3. Now begins the funny part: Morph into Tim Taylor (), cut your foam into shape and line the inside of your carton with it, except the open side, of course. (Should be doable, even for people with two left hands)
4. Now it's up to you how you bring your new "reverb killer" into position. It should anyway surround your mic and to make sure you can do recordings the open side should be in front of you.
If you did everything correctly, you should still have space for your popkiller.
Overall costs should be ridiculously low.

Re: Eliminating Reverb
Eredalis, I was going to build some contraption like this but I need space. What do you suppose is the best way to make space? Fire? Acid? Bill Roper?

[_] Fire
[_] Acid
[x] Bill Roper
I buy an "F" and would like to solve the word "SAUSAGE".

Re: Eliminating Reverb
Couple of these if you're really broke
(Cardboard egg cartons)
But more preferably this
(Memory bed foam, relatively cheap at Walmart)
One of these
(Cardboard box small enough to fit your microphone and foam without much room to spare)
A bit of this to stick all of either egg carton or foam against the cardboard
Some twists here, some cuts there, and walla:

You have this.
The difference may be hardly noticeable. I highly recommend recording around a ton of clothes instead, something like a walk in closet.

Re: Eliminating Reverb
I have a closet full of clothes that have never been worn. Enough to clothe half of Africa, I imagine. This could be a good spot.

Re: Eliminating Reverb
For acting, I record inside a closet. Honestly, it's hot as hell, but makes a huge difference. I take a laptop and put it outside (otherwise I'd need a 50+ feet cord), leave the door mostly open, and talk towards the inside, where I have three walls of clothes.

Re: Eliminating Reverb
Yep, you are one of those people I was talking about, Lavarinth.
Also, you have taken my explanations in pictures. Thank you for that, sir.
I must confess I feel somewhat overlooked by you, Lavarinth. Thank you for that, too.
So let me give you at least some advice: In order that's in your closet not getting hot as hell, you should try to fart a little less during your recordings. You forget to mention to put out always the glow-discharge lamp, when you climb into the cupboard.

Re: Eliminating Reverb
I saw your post, Eredalis, clearly I was just too late in my reply to make it original. My original post was actually the closet portion, then I opted to toss in all the original intentions I had at the last second. :3

Re: Eliminating Reverb
The problem with my closet is a person sleeps on the other side of it.

Re: Eliminating Reverb
This, for example, is my way to eliminate Reverb. It's entirely in accordance with the instructions, which Lavarinth and I have given in this thread.
