Help needed with a campaign messing the ENTIRE game

Post by Sokaaa »

Okay so I recently downloaded "The Master's Prejudice" campaign by Med.Map Guy. and ever since then a lot of my ranged units got the "laser blaster" or "ray gun" sounds. Even other campiagns like Wanderers of Sorceria did too.
Mainly those units have this that fire "energy balls" (shamans, Naga defence towers.

I was wondering if it would stop if I removed the Campiagn that causes this, and if I do will it mess up my other campiagns or saved games?

All help welcome!

hehe, yeah, this has happened so many times with me back during the old days with SECWAD campaigns in lebanon. just go to your starcraft directory and delete the sound folder.

This is not Warcraft in space! It's Warcraft 3.

Does the campaign come with any custom files or mpqs that go in the Warcraft 3 directory? If so, that's likely the problem.

The only thing I have done is to copy the Campaign file into the campaign directory, so I do not know if it had overwritten something. What really concerns me if I remove it I might not get the "original" sound back.

Sounds like those strange problems we encounter with some maps at SS. I'm not sure how they happen, though. It's possible the campaign is somehow loading the files in a way that breaks wc3.

Well Master's prejudice did crash once. But reloaded and it worked fine after wardsso no permanat crashes. Wanderers of Sorceria worked perfectly, just the attacksounds were bugged that used "energy ball" attacks. I decided not to delete the campaign for now, considering it may make permanent damage to warcraft 3 which could only be solved with a reinstall, and unfortunatly I do not have the possibilty to do that right now :P

I have no idea how this stuff works but am i right in the assumption that the campaign temporarily altered files inside WC3 and when it crashed they remained stuck in there and thus permamently altered. If so I guess only a reinstall can fix this.

Well, looks think about this.. Most likely it's the MPQ, I would think, in which case he'd just have to download the latest MPQ off a site. It may be a large file, but worth it compared to a reinstall. Just have to make sure the versions match up. May work.
