In mission 3b I noticed the upgrades in the Science Facility are researchable. But Maggie (and all other heroes in Starcraft) possess their upgrades by default.

The weapon and armor upgrades for vehicles are also enabled... Both cost 100.

Many thanks for reporting this, Eredalis! Looks like I've screwed up something during the recent, frequent updates (I think it happened when I enabled Leg Enhancements, Gravitic Boosters and Sensor Array) because I'm 100% sure that those upgrades were disabled in the early versions. Now I've fixed the problem and updated the campaign. I'll send a message to Chris so he can do the same with his archive.

A bit of a bump here:

There really needs to be a remastering of dark vengeance. OmegaWeaponX's iteration is just frustrating as hell because of the out of place RPG mechanics conflicting with the RTS nature of the campaign. Andrea, how much hard drive space do you have left on your Windows 98 machine?

As far as I remember, Dark Vengeance was ok in its original state, it's evident that the developers put a lot more work into it. It has properly displayed transmissions, a fully developed story, varied gameplay and very high difficulty. Honestly, I don't see how could I make it better... do you have any suggestions?

Oh it is? Alright then... Well it's been added to my spreadsheet, I'll see how it performs. By the way, have you played retribution?

No, I've never played Retribution nor Insurrection, I've only watched some playthroughs on YouTube. From what I could see, Retribution is quite better than Insurrection, especially in terms of story and voice acting, but I couldn't form a solid opinion about its gameplay value (some missions looked good, others seemed rushed). I think that I will try it sooner or later. What's your opinion about it? Is it worth playing?

The story is the only thing about insurrection that is better than retribution, lol. Yes I've played it, I have had those two and stellar forces since the day I got StarCraft. Retribution is highly polished but has a extremely monotonous gameplay and plot. Insurrection has a better plot but it had a lot of problems. Insurrection has been remastered by vorgozz recently, but no one has ever remastered retribution sadly. Retribution is nonetheless almost certainly getting some kind of ecommendation because it has two separate sequels and both of them are S tier campaigns. It's the only reason why retribution is in S tier instead of A tier on my spreadsheet.

Oh, probably I got confused, it has been a while since I watched those playthroughs. However, I vividly remember a piece of dialogue from Insurrection, and I think that the whole campaign could be summed up in that sentence: "The Zerg don't wear boots".

I've never seen Stellar Forces, but I've heard that it was very, very bad - to the point that Blizzard not only forced its publishers to recall it from sale, but also to burn down all existing copies (probably in the depths of Mount Doom LOL)

One of the stellar forces maps is good for testing out zerg mods but most of the rest is basically just layouts done in like 10 minutes and the default melee triggers. It has a 1% overall score on my spreadsheet, the second lowest score on the spreadsheet with only Warcraft III reforged having a lower score. Despite the score, it is actually not the worst campaign ever made, the worst is starcraft heroes. Holy crap, I will never forget that disaster.... dOminik is the worst campaign creator of all time.

By the way, I have played through the first episode of antioch chronicles. You're right, It is really great but it has minor issues with its dated 1998 gameplay design, occasional non sequitur plot events, and occasional plot-map mismatches, and for SC2 a few minor bugs. Still, it got a overall score of 82% which I expect will improve as I review the other two chapters of antioch chronicles. It is a pretty good campaign and BY FAR the best campaign of 1998. It will be interesting to see how it fares against A tier and S tier campaigns from the 3 golden eras of starcraft.

The quote you are thinking of is
The Zerg don't wear no stinkin' boots

And it's from the first mission... Or maybe the second one. Well I'll get to it eventually. I heard the remastering of insurrection is really good, it's made by s-tier campaign maker vorgozz.

For those who are interested, David Kang aka DK has started uploading the playthroughs of Enslavers SE on his YouTube channel.

As per your recommendation I gave Dark Vengeance a chance. Andrea, it is in pretty bad shape. I think you may have simply forgotten how poorly made Dark Vengeance is since its much better than the original enslavers (before you fixed the original). Mission 1 is a bit too easy but otherwise good, mission 2 is extremely hard due to the exceedingly low amount of resources available to player in terms of the starting point, available expansion points, and AI difficulty. The third mission has a stupidly easy win condition similar to the stupidly easy win condition that was in the third mission of enslavers before you fixed it, the fourth mission is essentially impossible with the given units and by that point I had lost all motivation to give the last mission a try.

Dark vengeance does need a special edition, that is for sure. I gave it a conditional recommendation on my spreadsheet only for those who can't play enslavers redux because while enslavers redux may have problems it's still much better than the original and since the campaign is official canon it is a must play on either redux or original for that reason alone.

It has been seven years since I played Dark Vengeance, so you may be right on that, however I wouldn't call it "poorly made", that seems a bit exaggerated to me. I may consider about it in the future, but for the moment I need to focus on my Protoss-themed campaign. At this purpose, I've seen that you have listed it as "work in progress" in your spreadsheet, but actually I haven't started working on it yet, I'm still in the tortuous planning process. I'm too depressed at the moment to work on anything complex and meaningful, because of the never-ending lockdown. Hopefully this summer I will feel better and more motivated. One thing I can tell you for sure is that it won't be based on Tassadar and Raynor (although I can't exclude that they will make a guest appearance, similarly to Duke and Kerrigan in VotS) and it will take place in a never before mentioned province of Aiur.

In a few days I will update ToH, VotS and ESE with some small adjustments (including the auto-centering function for those who play them in Remastered), I will send you a PM when I'm done so you can update your archive as well.

I know, I understand. I'm not expecting you to fix dark vengeance right now. I just thought I should tell you my experience with dark vengeance since we discussed it a bit earlier.

Why? It's not permanent. Look at it this way: The pandemic is granting you a lot of time to do home-based stuff such as campaign development. This way, when the lockdown ends you will be totally ready to go outside and do outdoors stuff. This is what I am doing. When I eventually finish my spreadsheet I'll move on to my backlog of games on steam and then I'm ready to live 2021 to the absolute fullest outside. I'm planning 3 vacations next year. You should do something similar although I can understand that with your age it must be significantly harder to do so.

You see, it's purely a psychological matter. My social life wasn't very big even before this shit, I only hanged out with a couple of friends who are not married like me. Our routine was to drink some beers, watch crappy movies and get high on weed, but that was enough to keep my mind relatively sane. The last time I had a vacation was probably in 2005, because I'm a crazy cat dad and I must take care of my pets. However, apparently I'm not the only one in this condition, because I've heard of several writers who have stopped working on their books because they are not in the right mood, despite the fact that they have a lot of time at their disposal. As always, better times will come (provided summer doesn't bring aliens, super-volcanic eruptions, grey goo and similar things LOL)
