its nearly impossible to snipe in that game.
the game play felt clunky
Modernwarfail rip off? i think so.

Sniping is only impossible if you're a bad and don't understand game mechanics.

Wait... Are you trying to compare fps graphics to rts graphics? That just doesn't make any sense.

Also Locomotion, this game just failed. It was released in 2004, it's a successor to Transport Tycoon Deluxe released in 1995.

It managed to look worse, play worse and failed astronomically, now with OpenSource clone of Deluxe, Locomotion is an unneeded piece of trash that should have never been at all.

some shots of the 3 games mentioned:

Locomotion 2004

So ye, locomotion is utter fail.

OpenTTD 2002 - 2010+ (Always in development)

I remember some of that. I never get these tycoon games, anyway. Sure, they look cute, but why would you ever wanna play it?

Now, this one on the other hand...

... should be in the Mother of Epic Games Thread. I loved Constructor.

Looks like Supreme Commander 2 could shape up to be this. Ouch.

Oh, man.  I loved Transport Tycoon!  By which I mean I spent all my time and money in that game arranging it so that my trains would always run over my trucks.

Gonna throw a few more horrible games up here.

Bioshock. Utterly dreadfully boring. Level design was neat, everything else was awful.

Mass Effect. People praise the story. Was cliche and boring Star Trek-style universe with predictable plot and characters. But it was the AI and the gameplay that REALLY threw me off. Haven't tried ME2, don't plan to. Apparently the story is even worse judging by the horrible, horrible trailers. Bioware needs to stop making games. Bring back Black Isle plz.

Supreme Commander. It's the most automated RTS on the market and requires zero effort to play at a pro level. Pro games are a bore to watch. No one talented plays the game because there's nothing to apply their talent to. HKS and I played it just for the lulz but you know what? Even on our insanely powerful machines that can curbstomp crysis, sc2, ut3, and every other game out there, supcom's sim speed engine totally flips out with AI and the game crawls at -6x speed. GPG doesn't know how to program engines.

Dawn of War 2. Control points in an RTS? r u cereal? Fuck that. Add onto the fact that they go even SMALLER scale than CoH and DoW1 and you have a recipe for awful. Relic makes bad games. They should stop.

Homeworld 2. As usual both the races have no diversity, there's no micro, campaign is too damn easy and generic, AI is awful, and mod support is like a wrench to the cock.

Empire Earth 1+2 = Rushed out pieces of shit. So many stupid animation bugs it's not even funny, balance is totally fucked. Sloppy and dumb.

Age of Empire 3 = See above.

Call of Duty 4 = I don't play multiplayer on games that you have to fucking unlock everything or buy DLC to get the full experience. Fucking stupid. The campaign is what I played. And it was bad. Infinitely respawning guys with RPG's in tight rooms that keep spawning until you pass certain points? What kind of moran thought that was a good idea? I got amusement out of it, it wasn't as bad as most FPS campaigns, but there is some enormous design flaws I fully expect to run into when I do my MW2 playthrough.

Crysis = Biggest waste of graphics budget I have seen next to Avatar. But the engine itself was decent and Aion showed it can look damn good and run better than games from 2004-2006.

C&C = Every Command & Conquer game in existence was a colossal disappointment and a disgrace to the genre.

It's pretty early right now, I'm sure I'll remember more horrible games to bash later in the day.

Here's some GOOD games -

Requiem: Bloodymare = has a very nice atmosphere and is free to play but is a Korean MMO and fairly grind intensive. HKS and I were able to duo instances, which I think it possible until the higher levels if you outlevel the instances a little bit. Was fairly entertaining. Love the physics. This would be a good game to draw some inspiration from if you plan to make a post-apocalyptic game/mod.

Diablo 1 & 2 = Best atmosphere in action RPG's to date. D2 went to shit after 1.08. Got a lot of playtime out of these two games. Amongst the best of Blizzard's voice acting which went straight to shit post d2.

Black Isle games = BG2, Planetscape:Torment, ect. Unfortunately I was only partly through BG2 when my cd decided to find its way under my old spinny chair and got completely shattered. I can just download it ect. but honestly I haven't had the time or motivation to pick up playing games again for a very, very long time. One day I will. They are awesome enough that I'm obligated to do so. These are the RPG games companies should be trying to replicate. Not the crummy garbage cookie cutter storylines that is Dragon Age and Mass Effect. Are people that awful at making their own worlds?

God of War = What is there to say, other than everything about God of War is awesome? Plenty of good GoW clones, too - Heavenly Sword for starters. I love kicking puppies into people. I did run into a crippling bug in GoW2 that prevented me from completing the game.

Xenosaga = Best RPG series I've played/seen played (watched HKS play a lot of it when he was over) but haven't had the chance to finish it yet for aforementioned reasons. The difficulty level is a bit high at points as some boss battles can be really silly, which I guess is compensated by being able to abuse the living fuck out of combos in episode 2 (lol albedo). I'd be lying if I said Xenosaga didn't influence my writing in small ways.

Conquest: Frontier Wars = Yes, it's a starcraft clone. But it's the only space-based RTS to actually be decent!

Freespace 2 = I hated Freelancer because it was the same old generic bullshit. Shoot these fighters. Shoot those fighters. Go here. Go there. Die because you have no money if you just try to follow the story and don't want to grind. Freespace 2 is where it's at. Dawg.

Wow.

I agree with the polar opposite of everything you just said, except for Conquest: Frontier Wars. That was the absolute best RTS after StarCraft. I was able to nab a few copies for $3. Can't beat that. Ever.

The thing about C:FW is that it had zero advertising and switched hands through like 3+ developers because of Microsoft. C:FW2 was supposedly in production but... haven't heard about it for a very long time and now it's so outdated it wouldn't be received any better. Not holding any hope for that.

I discovered C:FW through gamespy demo service, oddly enough, back in 2000 or so a little before the game was released.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I have the C:FW2 developer demo.

qqqqq you're a silly goose if you think Bioshock is anything like Dead Space. Dead Space doesn't suck being the most prominent difference.

DAO was the only game Bioware ever made that scales down properly. I could run it on a better laptop, but on the same hardware I could not even run ME1.

Dragon Age I think has fewer npcs, and thus the world might feel smaller or less developed, but that is because Dragon Age is a 3D game that is fully voiced all the way through.  But, I mean, considering there is a waitress in Denerim called "Edwina" I think they were really trying as much as possible to make DA a spiritual successor to BG2.
The dialogue for DA:O looks decent from what I've seen... but the overall story doesn't sound terribly inspired. I also get the vibe/have heard that they wanted to make it a spiritual successor. But I think they tried too hard. They tried too hard to make it super epic and amazing and over the top. The trailers were dreadfully bad (just seems to me that Bioware's guys who make trailers are overall awful at it, I mean look at ME2's trailer and all the pre-release DA:O trailers, they're awful.)

Plus I've heard the gameplay is... bland.

As for Bioshock related flame war... heheheh. why so serious
