1st Lt. Jack T Rippert (Portrayed by Ed Mace)
  » Unit: Marine (Sniper)

BIO:  There has never been a more skilled marksman in the UMC than Jack Rippert. He earned the rank of 'Sniper' during boot camp and was elevated to 'Deadeye' in the first year of the Zerg War. Though Rippert was more than able to lead platoons and hold his own in the hairiest ground engagements, his true talent lay in longshot enemy pops. During one engagement on the planet LJ-223, he put down more Roaches than a nearby spec-ops sniper squad in the same target zone, and that was without a scope or a high caliber sniper rifle.

In recognition of his ability, the spec-ops squad commander met with Rippert's commanding officer and requested to transfer him. Rippert refused, preferring instead to remain on the frontlines and knifefight battle zones. The squad commander gave Rippert one of the Spec-Ops' rifles in recognition of his skills demonstrated on LJ-223 that day just the same.

Rippert was the model of duty and loyalty within the UMC ranks. He never disobeyed an order, even those he thought for sure would get him and his platoon killed, has never publicly or privately complained or put down the UMC or ConFed as a whole, and had on many occasions thrown himself in harm's way to save one of his troops or another officer. Rippert took Roach Rodent Rushes (RRR's) and Spitter Spray onto himself to protect the lives of others, and has ended up in the infirmary or in one case near death in a space drydock med-facility as a result.

While his nickname given by his troops (Jack 'The' Ripper) was something Ripper took no pleasure in hearing, the nickname was very apropos. Rippert was among the most effective soldiers at ripping apart oncoming Roach forces both by gun and hand to hand. Rippert had a wife and two daughters back on earth who he had not seen for the three most recent years of the Zerg War. Still, he and his family traded VOX messages regularly. Woe to the man or beast that attempted to stop Jack from sending his VOX on his two family nights each week.
