BIO: Born on the colony Rigel Kentaurus (Alpha Centauri), Ra'Chek initially had no love for politics or the military. He felt that the Rooke Party was gaining too much traction in Congress and would eventually increase the military's presence in civilian life. After serving his required two year term in the United Military Command (UMC) following graduation from the University of Rigel, Providence, Ra'Chek left the soldiering life, married, and settled into a quiet routine as a junior accountant. When recruited for a colonial administrative position at the Dionysus Colony on Planet Aeterna 6AX-L (The Axle), Ra'Chek saw it as an opportunity to further remove himself and his family from the day to day creep of earth's federalistic policies and politics in general. The Axle was a backwater planet which acted as nothing more than a supply and refueling outpost for deep space reconnaisance and exploration ships dispatched by the UMC and by civilian megacorps such as Galveston-Morey and McCallister. On 12/17/2500, after nine years of a peaceful existence at the edge of Confederation space, Dionysus was attacked by the Zerg. Ra'Chek, severely wounded during the evacuation, ensured his wife and daughter made it to an escape transport only to find out later that Zerg's aerial invaders destroyed the transport before it could clear the atmosphere and enter a Rift Space portal. With his family and home gone, Ra'Chek lay in a hospital room without speaking or eating for a week. He simply watched as a digital clock counted down the days second by second on his night stand. Ra'Chek required just over a year to completely recover from his injuries, after which the Interplanetary Draft was implemented by Congress due to the scope of the Zerg War. Ra'Chek applied and was accepted to Officer's Training School and graduated at the top of his class. Ra'Chek earned a higher score in fact than any other officer in history and during simulations, debunked several aspects of then modern tactical theory. While Ra'Chek was still a cadet, the OTS passed his tactics onto commanders in various combat theatres throughout Zerg infested space. These tactics were widely used including the Ra'Chek maneuver in which the concept of using a planet's gravity wells allowed a battleship to 'skip' along a planet's gravitational rim, bolstering speed beyond what thrusters alone could achieve. As the most decorated officer in the Confederation, Ra'Chek has never failed a mission or lost a battle he oversaw. This catapulted him through the ranks almost as quickly as Karla Wainwright (though without the political connections she had). Eventually, Wainwright selected Ra'Chek to be her Adjutant and Grand Admiral. Ra'Chek's ruthless and revolutionary tactics earned him positive support from the media and the political arena as tens of thousands of soldiers' lives were saved. Ra'Chek, when off-duty, spends most of his time in his quarters studying Zerg swarm movements, anatomy, and laboratory test results on various Zerg specimens. He intends to wage his war against the Zerg until every last one of them is eradicated. The Zerg Incineration Directive put forth by Congress, which not only condemned Zerg but also 'any' species (human or otherwise) found to 'breed' or 'experiment with Zerg DNA' , provides Ra'Chek with all the tools and resources he needs to erase all traces of the Zerg. And to any humans found to violate the Directive under his watch, there will be no place in the galaxy for them to hide. |
