BIO: A lifelong politician from a family of politicians, Mulholland is Vice-Chairman of the Senate UMC Appropriations Committee and Vice-Chairman of Ways and Means. He also serves as Coalition Party Minority Leader. Mulholland was among the most outspoken pro-war Senators in the Interstellar Congress after the Zerg attacked the Confederation colony on planet Aeterna 6AX-L in 2500. Mulholland is also an ardent supporter of Admiral Mustapha Ra'Chek and often touts his military achievements in the media when asked if and when the Zerg War will end (having lingered for almost eight years). Mulholland's support for Ra'Chek draws criticism of Fleet Admiral Wainwright by Jansen Party Senators who feel that she is too soft to wage the kind of war the Zerg would respect. Prior to being elected to the Senate in 2482, Mulholland served as Colonial Governor of Procyon B (Proctor) for five years and prior to that, as a Provincial Representative on earth for six years. Mulholland's main claim to fame lay in his Pork Barrel Riders that he attached to bills to bolster Procyon A and B's economies. Both colonies credited him with single-handedly boosting GPP (Gross Planetary Product) by 65% in three years. Mulholland has three children, all from different marriages, and a fourth wife who is not mother to any of his children though she has two of her own. Mulholland's revolving family life got him slapped on sensationalist magazines as surely as an "A" grade entertainer. While many consider Mulholland's varied relationships to be political suicide, he is backed heavily by several megacorps which hope he can bring them increased profitability in the same way he increased the Procyon System's GPP. The sheer volume of credits available to Mulholland during his election campaigns as a result of their support more than offsets the negative press and mudslinging about his many marriages. Mulholland is one of two senators who corresponds regularly with Fleet Admiral Karla Wainwright regarding progress of the Zerg War, the other Senator being Melinda Niches. Mulholland, a heavy backer of colonial rights (Coalition Party) has been able to help steer his party toward supporting federal initiatives during the Zerg War including interplanetary donations of metals, circuitboards, computers, and fabric. It is widely believed that when the Zerg War ends, the Coalition Party will expect the favor to be returned by the Majority Rooke Party in the form of expanded colonial rights. |
