Legacy of the Confederation III - Characters - Gerson Drake

BIO:  Like Admiral Ra'Chek, Drake enlisted into the United Military Command (UMC) just after the Zerg attacked the Dionysus Colony on 12/17/2500. By joining a year before the interplanetary draft, Drake was able to quickly secure the rank of Lieutenant via a field promotion after his platoon was almost completely destroyed by Zerg Lurkers on the planet Alpha Brahe VI.

Prior to the Confederation's war with the Zerg, Drake had worked as a peace officer in Nashville, Tennessee (earth) for almost eight years. Drake joined the police academy just after he completed his two years of required military service following graduation from University of Texas at New Austin (or what the city's residents referred to as 'Austin Squared.') Drake was born on Lanai, the only Hawaiin Island not completely ravaged by the Zerg during their invasion of earth in the late 21st century.

While Drake is a highly competent soldier and able to pull off missions that other military officers wouldn't be able to do if given a step by step manual, he has no interest in remaining in the military indefinitely. Drake, married for six years, promised his wife and daughter he would return to earth permanently once the Zerg War had ended.

Drake's ability to 'get the job done' drew the notice of Captain Gerald Matheson (CFS Arlington). Captain Matheson usually reserves Drake for the 'Squat Rots' or more appropriately, assignments no one else could do but which were dangerous and likely unpleasant for those soldiers who can. Drake is very highly respected by all of the soldiers under his command due to his unwavering positivism in the face of overwhelming odds, his sense of humor, and what is generally considered an excessive dose of personality.
