MOVIES, MOVIES, MOVIES
To replace movies, you do what you would to replace any file: put it in the correct directory. Note that you can not use a custom mpq for this process; you must either use a Stardraft cwad or emulate the mpq directories in the Starcraft folder. Here's a list of the Broodwar stuff:
- smk\blizzard.smk - Short movie of the Blizzard logo that plays just before the intro movie.
- smk\starXIntr.smk - The Broodwar intro movie.
- smk\xProtoss.smk - Ending for the Broodwar Protoss campaign.
- smk\xTerran.smk - Ending for the Broodwar Terran campaign.
- smk\xZerg.smk - Ending for the Broodwar Zerg campaign.
I haven't actually made my own smk movie before, but here's a few useful tips specifically for replacing these:
- Even though they are played on a "wide screen" in
the game, they are actually 320 pixels wide and 308 pixels high. When viewed normally via
a smacker player, they appear "squished".... because they are (otherwise they
would appear stetched in the game). Just note that Starcraft will automatically
"force" your movie to fit into the wide screen dimentions.
- You can use any 256 color palette you want.
- Sound/Music channels are included in the movies.
- If things are looking screwy, change as many properties of your smacker to those of the original movie (dimesions, sound compression, color depth, etc.).
Graphics and stuff isn't really my area, so I'll have to leave it at that. Remember: don't use a custom MPQ. It won't work. Good luck.
