ARSENAL II TUTORIAL - UNITS EDITOR

The Unit Editor is what you want to use if you want to change the properties of units (like a marine or a Nexus), weapons (like a marine's gauss rifle), or "orders" (like what a unit does when you click the attack button). The changes you make with this editor are saved in the files: units.dat, weapons.dat, and orders.dat. The item list in this editor is simply a list of all the units in Starcraft; most of them will be familiar to you, some will not (those are what people call "hidden" units that aren't actually used anywhere in the game). In general, the list follows this order (top to bottom): Terran men, Zerg men, Protoss men, Critters, Terran buildings, Zerg buildings, Protoss buildings, and then a whole lot of jumbled miscellaneous units like special buildings, resouces, powerups, beacons, and unused units. Broodwar units in particular tend to be a little scattered around. The reason for the somewhat confusing list was not to frustrate you; Blizzard just wasn't very neat. :-) You'll eventually get a feel for where everything is.

As you can imagine, each unit has many, many properties, from its hit points, to its species, to its weapons. The Unit Editor divides these properties into four categories, each given it's own tab. They are General, Advanced, StarEdit, Graphics, Weapons, and AI/Orders. You can switch between each category by clicking on the tabs. Because there are so many properties in each category, I have seperated each one to make things easier. Choose one below:
