ARSENAL II TUTORIAL - UPGRADES EDITOR - TECHNOLOGIES

at_upgrade.gif (18807 bytes)

This is the Tech tab of the upgrade editor. The item in this editor is the technology. Each technology can be selected from the Technology list and then edited by changing the fields to the right and to the bottom of the list. I have delineated each field with a different red number. An explanation of each field is below:

12 - Mineral Cost [number box]: This value determines how much minerals the technology costs.

13 - Gas Cost [number box]: This value determines how much vespene gas the technology costs.

14 - Research Time [number box]: This value determines how long the technology takes the research. The higher the value, the longer it takes.

15 - Mana Cost [number box]: This value determines how much mana it costs to cast the spell this technology researches. For example, Lockdown has a mana cost of 100 so a ghost must expend 100 mana when he casts lockdown.

16 - Already Researched [check box]: Check this box if you want the technology to be researched when a game starts. For example, because Defensive Matrix is "already researched," you get it free with the science vessel. You don't have to research in during the game.

17 - Broodwar technology [number box]: Check this box if you want the technology to be a Broodwar only technology. That means, you can only research that technology if you are playing Broodwar (and not in normal Starcraft).

18 - Race [pull down menu]: This value determines which race the technology is associated with. For example, Lockdown is associated with Terrans (because it is for Terran Ghosts).

19 - Label [pull down list]: This value determines what the technology will be called when you highlight it in the building in which it is researched. You can select from any name from the list for any technology (though it will not change what the technology actually does, just what is says).

20 - Icon [pull down menu]: This value determines what icon will be shown for the technology in the building in which it is researched. For example, The Cloaking Field Icon is an engraved circle. You can select from any icon from the list for any technology (though it will not change what the technology actually does, just what it looks like).
