The numerous corporations, owners of Research & Development facilities and production centers on the planet rule it with no goals other than preserving their wealth and expanding their markets. The provisional government is nearly absent and lacks the powers necessary to challenge these companies.

Legacy of the Confederation: Past Purposes

Creator: The Oracle

As the very best of StarCraft mod campaigns, Legacy of the Confederation is so gripping that many consider it as good as Brood War. This three-episode, 28 mission saga is actually something of an alternate take on that official expansion, so if you've played Brood War, forget about the UED and the Overmind Cocoon and enjoy this story about the Terran Confederation's drive to exterminate all Zerg in the universe. Production values are incredible. Missions are intricately designed, art design remains fairly true to the game, and custom voice-acting and effects completely refashion the soundscape.

Vision of the Future

Creator: Razorclaw_X

The wicked Cerebrate Zargil attempted to alter the future of the Zerg Swarm by securing the Terrans' past. To that end he captured Judicator Chaladar in order to create a new timeline. However, the Protoss and Zerg of his time, along with the Terrans of the past, managed to thwart Zargil and his brood, and erase his timeline. It was an example of cooperation unparalleled in history.
Unfortunately, only three remember that even occurring: Prelate Ziktofel of the Dark Templar, Judicator Chaladar, and the Hunter, Xaax the Defiler. They would lay the foundation of a future alliance between Protoss and Zerg, but such a path is not without its peril.

Vision of the Future: Black Dream

Creator: Razorclaw_X

In the wake of that climatic battle a new peace was to be formed between the Protoss of Shakuras and the Zerg of Kodulas, but it was not to be; the corrupted Judicator Arestes of the Shelak Tribe, and member of the New Conclave, manipulated events that would dissolve the alliance before it could begin. He maneuvered his pawn Kabala into starting a great war using the power of the Zeji Cloning Cylinders-- artifacts of a civilization ancient when the Protoss were young.
However, the threat of Zeji Cloning Cylinders was countered by the Scantid Fleet, and their Black Dream, a powerful symbol of cooperation of all three races waging war in the Koprulu Sector. Kabala revealed that it was he who manipulated Arestes from the beginning, and it took the sacrifice of two great heroes, Urust and Asakiro, to end the madness, once and for all.
With Kabala's apparent death and Arestes' flight the alliance formed behind the Black Dream fell into shambles, forcing the handful of heroes and the Scantid Fleet back into exile. They continue to sail among the stars, hoping for the day when the three races can cooperate without the need of a dangerous symbol as the Black Dream.

Beyond the reaches of the Koprulu Sector, Kabala emerges from the darkness once more, and a dark experiment is underway that may decide the fate of the Terrans, Protoss, and Zerg, forever. His eternal hunt to find and destroy Arestes, the last pawn in his grand scheme, is about to take a turn for the worst.

Xaax the Defiler has returned victorious to the Renegade Swarm, bearing the Remains of the Overmind subdued and under his control. Using this leverage, and a newfound ability to sever the Zerg reincarnation with dark energy, Xaax has become the most powerful individual member of the Swarm, and created his Lich Brood. Unsatisfied with merely this seat of power Xaax turns toward Kerrigan, aiming to wipe-out the last of his opponents....
Ace Tarpals retires from adventure and returns to Valis IV, informing General Strassenburg, formerly Serena Schezar, of his intent to lead a quiet life. With the knowledge that all his enemies have been eliminated, can this former pirate find peace without war?
Kuwadora returns to Shakuras and the Scantid Fleet is disbanded. Knowing full-well that the Conclave would be eager to get their hands on the Black Dream he makes certain of the destruction of all Zeji spacecraft in the Fleet's possession. To this day he remains uncertain to his place in the universe. Is his dream truly a fantasy?
The Protoss aim to monopolize the power the Black Dream has given them, but there are those in the Koprulu Sector that would challenge this power. There are those forgotten that will emerge from the cloak of shadow which they hid, and there are those who will see to it that the Protoss are stopped-- no matter the cost.

Dorasida was not always a world for peace and well-being. A civil war broke out 1 year ago, dividing the Tarks into seperate factions. A conflict of mistrust led to the loss of over 4 million lives, a huge loss to the 66 million who inhabit Dorasida. The conflict was finally ended by a man named Taku Horasi. Horasi founded an organization known as E.D.A.S.T. which stands for Expert Decision and Strategist Team. This team stole hidden documents held by one of the Tark factions that proved one of the other factions had not been lying, and ended a year of mistrust and war. Soon after, the Tarks rebuilt what they had destroyed during their unwarranted war. The faction who had hidden the documents that ended the war were run off the main Tark Continent to a Southern Pole Continent. That faction is known as the Peds. They were not eliminated, just run off the continent. Residents of the Ped faction frequently make casual visits to the Tark Continent, and it is accepted, but no one can forget of the Ped's disgrace. The armies of Dorasida still remain seperated. After the war, there was no need for armies, but the Peds and Tarks still kept them at full strength nonetheless. While not at war, there are scattered reports of enemy intelligence officers on both the Tark and Ped continents. They keep a discreet eye on each other.
E.D.A.S.T. continues on and prepares to make it's latest run to recover the schematics of the new Terran weapon, the Terran Valkyrie. Unfortunately, they may get more then they bargain for.

The resistance on Alarite isn't lead by any one man, nor is there any top leader. It is a desperation resistance, one composed of one or a few people in certain areas, scattered all throughout the planet, each of them trying to coordinate their efforts while not being caught, doing whatever is possible to stop Kaulin, or at least slow him down. To make matters worse, the price of being caught associated with the resistance is a very pricey one, torture, then summary execution. Few dare oppose Kaulin, and the resistance numbers are falling daily as more people are caught. Alarite is not a free world, it is a world enshrouded in lies by a chaotic man. In the midst of this, a greater threat is resurfacing, which if given the opportunity, may spark into a situation far beyond the capabilities of any army to handle. The cerebrate is rebuilding his broods, he needs only a planet to plant the seeds to bring about its return to power. The world of Alarite.

You'll need a good sense of humor to appreciate the three chapters of The Bob Levels. Entirely lacking in coherent plot, this kooky campaign is perfect for decompressing after the grim campaigns in StarCraft and the Brood War expansion. Bob includes 17 maps in three main parts of the saga, all telling the absurd story of the conflict between the Good Guys and the Bad Guys Alliance. The saga is continued with three bonus one-off missions where you battle with Dark Templar cows and race Zerglings. Yes, it's all pretty silly. But it's also an awfully compelling satire of sci-fi cliches.

War of the Tribes

War of the Tribes

Creator: Gabriel Sorrel

War of the Tribes was released in the spring of 1999 at Starcraft Legacy and was acclaimed for its immersing story, graphical innovations, and difficult gameplay. The story, for which most of its fame is due, was a continuation of the Starcraft: Broodwar storyline and meant as an introduction to the fourth race prophesized in the end of Brood Wars. While War of the Tribes itself was completed, like many of the great stories in campaigns a sequel was never produced to end its tale. WotT was also more than blessed to have the help of the then unknown artist/animator Joel Steudler. With his help WotT was the first campaign to have its own movie, as well as a handfull of brand new portraits. These are considerably dated now compared to his newest work, but the work done for WotT was Joel's first mark in the Starcraft community and his first step towards becoming the well known member of the community he is today.

Prelate Daanis watched from the shadows as the glow of Artanis' engine faded in the night sky, eventually being enveloped by the countless stars above. After a moment, he knew he was alone. Truly and utterly alone, on the face of a world that, while friendly, was not his home. Shakuras would never replace Aiur. Most of the Sargas Tribe was crippled, or dead, like all the Protoss, but it was the Akilae Tribe, once the most numerous, that had suffered the greatest losses. It was they who had valiantly remained behind with Fenix and Raynor to ensure the escape. The swarms were mounting another attack on their improvised base on the frozen surface of Braxis. Derek was reasonably certain that they had no way of getting off Braxis alone, but held out, not knowing the dismal fate of the rest of DuGalle's fleet. He had no way of knowing that even if Earth Command did know that he and his men had crashed on Braxis, that no one would be able to help.
The stage is set. Kerrigan's swarms lay silent, waiting. Now is their chance, perhaps there last chance. It is time for the Protoss to return home.
