Unfortunately, most of sc2's significant performance hits are in the hardcode. It's funny how Galaxy is regarded to be one of the slowest scripting languages out there, but the worst offenses are still committed at the native level. Sure, the game could be reverse engineered by someone skilled enough, but the time commitment would be crazy and not really worth it in the end.
We got back a lot of performance but for anyone running something weaker than an NSA workstation the game is going to be suboptimal at the best. I'm still considering design solutions.
