Perhaps a little early in the year, but BlizzCon 2011 has been announced! With the huge success of the previous years, it's no surprise Blizzard Entertainment has already been able to confirm this year's BlizzCon as early as February. As is typical for BlizzCon, it'll be in Q4 of 2011, on October 21st and 22nd. Below is an excerpt from the Press Release in regards to what BlizzCon is and why you should attend.
In addition to serving as a gathering place for Blizzard Entertainment gaming communities, BlizzCon will offer attendees a chance to enjoy:
* Hands-on play time with the latest versions of Blizzard Entertainment games
* Discussion panels with Blizzard Entertainment developers
* Competitive and casual tournaments for players to showcase their talents
* Community contests with great prizes
* Commemorative merchandise based on Blizzard Entertainment’s game universes
* More activities and attractions to be announced
The previous BlizzCon was held in Anaheim in October 2010. Tickets to the event sold out in minutes, and some of the highlights included the unveiling of Diablo III's fifth and final playable character class, the demon hunter, and an epic closing concert featuring Tenacious D.
It's a rejuvenating experience, to say the least. Although having paid an additional 25 dollars last year and not be treated with any amazing announcements was an utter disappointment.
Judging by the presence of Desinfested Kerrigan on the official artwork, it's safe to assume that there will be substantial announcements regarding HotS. Maybe even a trailer?
