The legend of Bloodymire, as told by Sir Edward Newton.
It was a cold, rainy day in my hut when the King barged in, slinking aids in tow, screaming something about a wasteland that needed plundering. "Yae the best man for the job!" he exclaimed, and handed me a single piece of paper with directions and instructions scribbled on it with child-like illiteracy.
So it began.
Year 301, Early Spring
The lads and I finally arrived to the land of promise, the land of opportunity, the land of hope and salvation.
Not much to look at, if ye ask me...

Let'see what... err..

Before I could react, the savages were upon us! Yet, just as quickly as they came, our dogs set upon their boney forms and tore them apart.

I have a sinking feeling about this place... Without any real mountains for miles, my lads will have to dig into a small incline in the northwest, far from our camp. I want to get out of this hellhole as soon as possible and into somewhere safe from whatever unspeakable horrors still remain in the shadows...

Nothing like home. I'm worried about the huge ledge overlooking our entrance. Hoping to store everything inside the base as we acquire it. Wood, berries, everything. I can feel eyes on me... everywhere... watching... waiting...

Soon my fears are realized as screams are heard over the plains. The skeletal groundhogs have unleashed a siege of biblical proportions! My lads prepare themselves for the onslaught by running away in terror.

11th Slate, 301
The Groundhogs so far have yet to make a move besides terrorize passer-byers. Seems assigning some of our war hounds to one of our workers has scared them off... for now. Working on getting our base operational so we can move everything into it. There's no river to speak of, but there is plenty of ponds out there. Probably soiled in groundhog droppings.

13th Felsite, late Spring
Intensified our mining operations... just about ready to ditch the wagon for good. Set up two rickety beds for the lads; it'll have to do for now. Looks like there's an aquifer right underneath us, separating us from the squishy insides of the earth. The going will be tough.
