Re: Internet in the 90s
I didn't start using the internet until 2009, but I vaguely remember the old download page for the StarCraft demo (which was a whopping 28 megabytes) there was a warning that it might take a few hours to download, or something.
Also, geocities was in its prime. Not sure if any of them existed in the actual 90s, but there were plenty of StarCraft pages.
i think it was harder to pirate music too

napster was the big mainstream piracy spike but pretty sure usenet and such predates it considerably.

The internet has always had SJWs. Before social media, they just were in their own groups and message boards rather than posting to your timeline and your feed.

Re: Internet in the 90s
thankfully ublock origin is great for cleaning out crap from websites. Being able to block out junk like featured links, ad elements, etc. makes everything so much cleaner. And you can still use html gmail.

1000's of free internets.
It was an age of plenty. Really, the CDs were unlimited...
Behold the song of my people!

So dope.
Screw YouTube. GIFs were the shit!
Websites had a certain jean ne se quois, an unmatched color theory and design sense you just can't find anymore.
You actually had to think about which search engine you'd use.
Wikipedia, what's that? Did you mean:

I AM SO.... TRIGGERED
Remember Microsoft Bob? When Windows tried to push out the Metro interface and it died real fast? Now it's industry standard!! xDDDDD
Also, CD's have a super huge tax on them in Canada, I think it still exists to this day.

i was mostly referring to mesk complaining about social media. the internet's changed, people don't want personal homepages anymore, they want easy to access profiles. they like live feeds. idk why people get so upset about it
but nope, yeah, i totally got triggered!

Re: Internet in the 90s
I also think Internet Explorer was sort-of the most popular browser back then... Probably the only one back then.
