Re: Heroes of the Storm
It's at least an improvement over his voice in WotK.

Re: Heroes of the Storm
The thing that boggles everyones' mind is apparently he had the same VA as Abathur.

Re: Heroes of the Storm
Abathur is a really simple voice to make. It's just an autotune and some reverbs. I can definitely see the same VA doing it.
The effects for the new anubarak are off AND it is acted in an entirely different way. Seems just like bad directing/lack of staff to me.

Re: Heroes of the Storm
Okay, I'm the one who usually doesn't notice things like that, and I'm largely indifferent to the quality of voice effects.
But what did they do to make him sound that bad? I know nothing about sound editing, but I assume the process went something like this:
Step 1:
EFFECTS
<:::::||::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::>
<::::::::::::||:::::::::::::::::::::::>
<:::||::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::>
Step 2:
EFFECTS
<:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::||>
<:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::||>
<:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::||>

Re: Heroes of the Storm
In a way, yes. It's also a matter of using too many to begin with.

Re: Heroes of the Storm
So you're talking using only half the effects they used on his voice, Mesk?
I kinda miss how deep and reverberating his voice was back in TFT. Was his voice in WotLK that bad?

His voice in WotLK was like if you took the Warcraft 3 Satyr and added a cheap effect on top of it.
That's exactly what he sounded like.

Re: Heroes of the Storm
His voice in Heroes is practically the same as WotLK with more yelling, which are both pretty terrible. The VA and editing is so all over the place I don't know how it's even possible. The Lich King had at least 5-6 different vocals throughout the same expansion.

Nah, the Lich King was the same voice through the whole thing. Its just in the later patches somehow Blizzard's sound department screwed up his voice effect so the effect was overlaid over his voice instead of the other way around (and therefore he sounded like he was constantly gargling).

I was referring more to entirely different effects each time rather than actors.
- Death Knight area/Some Northrend areas
- Wrathgate
- Naxxaramas (Yes, I'm aware this is probably from vanilla)
- Banshee's Revenge quest/Yogg'saron vision
- Trial of the Crusader
- Halls of Reflection/Icecrown Citadel
It's like each time they forgot to record the settings used. I know it can be difficult to get a voice the same after longer periods of time. But this is overkill.

Re: Heroes of the Storm
That disgusting audio filter really does just ruin everything it touches. I know it's edgy because holewood does it but, seriously blizzard.
