Re: Do you intend to buy HotS? (Poll - November 2012)
I don't have any other GPU intensive games installed so just for lulz I downloaded the "heaven" benchmark tester. My computer didn't freeze and it gave me this result:
21:27:37 Time: 259.54
21:27:37 Frames: 14434
21:27:37 FPS: 55.6138
21:27:37 Min FPS: 26.1843
21:27:37 Max FPS: 110.896
21:27:37 Scores: 1400.91
Apparently 1400 is... I have no idea what that score means actually. I guess good computers get 3000+ and 1000< is bad.

Re: Do you intend to buy HotS? (Poll - November 2012)
I'm only buying HotS, honestly, because so I can see what further damage they can do after Wings of Liberty. WoL broke Starcraft's legs with Fenix's absence and making the Zerg the good guys. I guess Blizzard will rip off the dick and stomach this time.
I got no interest in the multi-matches, especially after what they did to the Oracle and Widow Mine.
Also, I'm making a campaign but I didn't realize how limited was Blizzard's doodad library, especially concerning man-made environments like cities and jungle temples or specific organic environments like mountains. There are more variations for bushes and trees than for buildings. The temple I'm making even lacks a watch tower, for crying out loud!
If HotS can expand the library and satiate some of my needs, I swear I'll upgrade the maps to be only playable in the expo.

I'm actually in the same boat as Falchion- I want to know how much worse this can get.

So concerning HotS, what do you guys feel about the groups feature? Seems there will be a recent beta patch that will contain it.
Personally, I think it *could* be Blizzard's real and concrete way to make SC2 much less anti-social as you could connect easily with a lot of people.
The main drawbacks I see :
1) As of now there is the limit of being inside up to 20 groups which do feel limited if you are very social and wants a lot of connections everywhere.
2) Finally, SC2 takes 500 MB to 1 GB even to start plus time loading which make it unfriendly to launch it then chat as opposed to have a side light chat client that would instantly start for chatting.
3) They say "near limitness" as the maximum of players inside a group but knowing Blizzard, it's possible that "near limitness" can end up being a number far lower than we would expect.

Hey look, more Facebook.
I think the 50 member limit on clans is even more retarded than the 20 group limit.

Well.
It feels very, very stupid that Blizzard takes so long to add features that most older games already had, and that when they finally do add them, they lack basic features that most games supply.
If making clans a 'social experience' was their intention (in that they purposefully limited the number of clan members so you can actually socialise with people... because that's what a lot of SCII supporters are saying, which is retarded), they could have raised the limit or removed it entirely, but made the clan leader be in charge of limiting members if he liked. That seems like an awfully more efficient method of separating game-intensive clans with socially-intensive ones.
It goes beyond using groups for social interaction and clans for gaming, but we all know that Blizzard won't give a damn either way unless they start taking a hit in their bottomless wallet.

Yeah, I did complain on the b.net forums along with others. Seems Blizzard still intend to keep it at 50 even for now they say they "might" change it. I think 100+ minimum would have been a no brainer even if you include the groups system considering channels can hold up to 100.Hunter_Killers wrote:I think the 50 member limit on clans is even more retarded than the 20 group limit.
Seems to be pretty much the story of the company's life.Pr0nogo wrote:It feels very, very stupid that Blizzard takes so long to add features that most older games already had, and that when they finally do add them, they lack basic features that most games supply. [...]

Re: Do you intend to buy HotS? (Poll - November 2012)
So a new question with the thread in spirit :
What would honestly help or lessen your interest to actually buy HotS when it gets released?
For example, you might be more sold if they did increase the clan's member limit to 100 from 50. Or maybe that Starcraft II in general is much less hungry CPU-wise. Maybe that melee becomes more balanced and/or enjoyable to watch. Or that open games is the first accessible tab over the popularity system.
Or yet, dramatically increase the map limit's size from 20 MB to 150 MB in addition of a global map/mod storage of 100 MB to 1 GB. Maybe they include some in-client video streamer and/or "replay streamer" of the pro games.
On the opposite side, I would like something beyond the very generic and simplified "that it sucks more" mentality. Do actually give something concrete and credible that you believe Blizzard would make (or is currently making) things worse to make you less tempted to buy HotS.

Blizzard is the demonic machination of all the fear, hatred, and stearic acid in the universe, their motion can only result in extreme pain and chaos to those unlucky enough to buy their products...Ricky_Honejasi wrote: On the opposite side, I would like something beyond the very generic and simplified "that it sucks more" mentality.
