Aren't there any random events? Are the levels scripted?

Most of the levels are scripted. Some of the areas that are random (the huge chunks I pointed out) have scripted events tied to them, but nothing really more sophisticated than spawn X guy here.

The casuals would get upset if the game was too dynamic. People were complaining about the map not being revealed when they join a new game.

I more of call them WHINERS, complaining a game's too hard. Game critics involved. I simply tell them everytime they complain: Learn how to play!

lulz, I felt that way about Diablo 2 and how it made the exciting and treacherous dungeon crawling with strangers into a hand holding affair.

I never felt that d2 was treacherous, except with bugged caster AI, personally. Laconius might disagree in regards to stygian dolls and my piling of them on his waypoint.

The whole 'threat' of the world was lost a long time ago when they neutered monster AI.

The times I felt threatened in Diablo 2 were these points:

1. entering Duriel's room

2. Bremm Sparkfist (when he was still Lightning Enchanted)

3. Some idiot brought the other Council Members to Bremm Sparkfist

4. got Iron Maiden cast on me while Whirlwinding

5. Lightning-Enchanted Multishot Extra Strong random mofo

6. Szark the Burning in any difficulty above Normal. I can't count how many times I got one shot by him.

That's it.

I wish there was a way to dodge high level skills from bosses. It always saddens me that one needs to be at a certain level to beat a boss. That or have a backpack full of health potions.

Basics of TPS ARPG's you're talking about there, GNA. God of War, ect. Very little of that (skill-based fighting) in d2 styled ARPG's from what I have seen thus far.

Yeah, at least from that old gameplay video (d3), some spell casters show like a ping on the map prior to casting their spells. Or was it so? Can't remember.

The skeleton king, was he then like forced to spawn mobs so the player can get health orbs, or does he give health orbs at certain Hit Point levels? Like say, if the player manages to damage him up to 3/4 health, poop comes health orbs.

Screw Duriel.. Dude always got first hit before my year 2000 PC even loaded the screen.

Yup, just the Council and Baal's throne room (with an older computer) for me. Them lag spikes were the death of many hardcore characters.

I think you guys would kill yourselves if you knew half the reasons why d2 lags so much.

I know some of them. Ugh.
