Since I'm new here and don't want to make some stupid mistake, I'll ask another question just to make sure I understand things correctly.

We have to join prior to the 31st of December and need to post an update at least once every month after we've officially entered?

Yup, or tell them you're keeping it all. This prize is intended and designed for one sole person, if multiple people work on a project together, that is causing a loss to their own interest in the package since they will not have the complete package in the end if they opt to split it among themselves.

I feel like a retard, but I must ask one more question.
Does the campaign we make have to follow the typical blizzard style of linear chapters? Or can we make a campaign more like the Rexxar one from The Frozen Throne?

The campaign style is your choice. Whether it's build and destroy maps, puzzle maps, multiple expanding maps using data storage, one singular map that somehow manages to contain hours of gameplay, etc.. It's all up you.

I'm oblivious to Starcraft mapping in general so is it true that, like you said you can store data after multiple map changes?

it's also doable in SC2 with banks; it's not quite the same as war3's "map within a map" thingy but from the look of things shouldn't be too hard

also for really advanced modders it's technically doable in SC/BW with GPTP plugins, with all the complexity, potential instability and Mac-incompatibility that brings; though the score screen & mission briefing popping up each time would get annoying unless you figured out how to disable them

Direction: I intend to create a single map with multiple ways to play. Yes lore is established but I intent to deviate and make the game more player choice. I intend to recreate legend of Zelda ocarina of time. I plan to combine the old masser type maps from Starcraft with armies pushing across the map these generals are given creatures and zones, captured zones will display attributes of siege, (hylai lake drains, the deku tree dies, zoras demain becomes desolate) Three players are given heroes with different techniques in a fps view. One is a summoner, another is offensive weaponry and the third is stealth and damage. They gain spells that allow them more versatile weaponry. Such as Dins fire(animation stolen from a siege tank firing) I'd be stealing the scenery and nothing more. Just curious enough to ask.

Ohhhh, I'll try to do this! Hopefully there's no hard feelings from when I held my contest on SEN! I know this contest will turn out a lot better than mine. :D

Nine month contest? Hm... Being given so much time obviously tells me that submissions should be amazing, fully in-depth, thought-out, and free of bugs. I'm not sure if I can make an awesome masterpiece like this. D: But I'll definitely try!

And before this thing actually kicks off... Damn all you people that get help from people like Laconious who know how to voice act and fully mod. If only I knew anyone on this site. :(
