I won't be seen online too much until I upgrade my computer a bit; I get about 4 FPS online, and the campaign runs way slower.

In terms of computer upgrade, I would favor getting computers with highest core speed as possible (probably 2.6 ghz per core or better) and at bare minimum 2 cores/processors (although you might want at least 3 cores anyway for other games). SC2 currently only uses 2 cores so you won't get benefits with having a quad (4) core over a dual (2) core.

The main reason being is that SC2 is VERY dependent on raw CPU speed in the first place. Also considering that we tend to play big melee games (like 12+ players minimum) or heavy CPU dependent custom maps, you will REALLY need better CPU speeds over pretty much anything.

Finally, in case you are not tech-savvy at all, you will need a reasonable video card as onboard video cards (those that come with most computers) just won't be enough to run SC2 well.

Personally, I do have a Radeon HD 4670 which runs reasonably well for its price although it's a generation or two old video card. One of the FFS players have the same video card as me (but a 2.6-2.8 ghz triple cores over my 2.2 ghz quad core) and do run at 20-25 FPS under considerable pressure while I get bottlenecked to 4-8 FPS due to my CPU speeds for the same situation. Although quite a few suggest Nvidia cards over ATI cards (which Radeon beyond to).

Pretty much up to you to market around or get more advice about it.

I might upgrade in a month and dedicate some of my current hardware to a living room media station. I actually have three video cards lying around which are all superior to my nVidia 5200 FX. The best one is an XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB DDR5, but it's for my girlfriend (:p). The real problem is my 768 MB DDR2 ram, and the equally dated motherboard hosting it. Since it's been a while since I've upgraded anything, I'm thinking of buying one of those fancy AM3 processors, too.

You're going to end up building an entire computer from the ground up.

Which is very probable for his case so other than possibly a video card, I am not sure if there is a point trying to use old parts there and there if they are just that old. Heck, SC2 tend to use 1 gig RAM directly and I suspect 2 gig would be the minimum to prevent RAM bottlenecking you in SC2.

I mean, if you want a new CPU chances are you need a new mobo. Upon which case, sticking with DDR2 ram is just wholly and utterly pointless. Get a nice video card; the HD 66** mid-range series just came out iirc, good place to start. Most boards have decent onboard audio now, but you'll want something for your hardcore music composing, so just pluck something out of your existing machine(s) if you want to.

In this day and age 6-8gb of ram is minimum.

As a general remainder, the FFS (SC2) event is every Saturday at 9:00 pm Eastern Time (GMT -5)

I tried to add you but I couldn't ... are you in America (as in Canada or USA) or elsewhere? If so, you didn't wrote it correctly.

Otherwise, you are in a different region and SC2 still have region locking. The only exception I know would be if you are in SEA thus you can make a request to Blizzard to be on the USA servers instead of SEA.
