StarCraft: Reuniting -- Completed

Name: Jim_Raynor
Age: 13
Direction: I will try to make three more episodes, Episode VII, Protoss, Episode VIII, Zerg, and Episode IX, Terran. The Protoss campaign will be called Praetor of Shakuras, and it will have 3 levels and 3 cutscene levels. The Zerg campaign will be called Rebels of the Swarm, and will have 3 levels and 3 cutscene levels. The Terran campaign will be called Project Shadow Blade and will also have 3 levels and 3 cutscene levels.

The Protoss campaign is about the Dark Templar on Shakuras and their new leader, Praetor Artanis. 867 year old Yah’zar and his apprentice, Mi’Shuras, who is 287 years old, are serving under this new leader after the loss of Rascagal and the disappearance of Zeratul. Mi’Shuras soon learns a secret beyond her or any of their imaginations...

The Zerg campaign focuses on a Hunter Killer under Kerrigan's control. The Hunter Killer, who is named Ryuuthn, seems to have a mind of it's own and doesn't like how Kerrigan is ruling. He asks her to give him a brood, but when Kerrigan refuses, he steals some Drones and makes his own plans...

In the Terran Campaign we continue to see the Dominion trying to rise in power, but this time they are trying to rebuild. To make it worse for them, Carl Dawson and a few Alpha Squadron men are trying to overthrow the Dominion. “CD”, as Dawson likes to be called, is working on destroying the Dominion, but the Dominion is working on a new project they call...
Project Shadow Blade!

Each campaign has something unique at the end. The Protoss have a hidden bonus mission, the Zerg have an, um, "Trigger full" cutscene level, and the Terran have a boss fight.

Each campaign also has an epilogue.

Download

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1. Be patient. Many times you will have to wait a while before something finishes. (Dang music being too long.)

2. Protoss level three is a defending mission. Because of some things (including the length of the song) you will have to defend your base till the song ends. Then run around the area of your base (including outside it a bit) and kill all the zerg in the area. When the screen goes to a black area and text appears, do NOT click any more units. Just watch.

3. Zerg prologue has some sound issues. I can't fix it, don't ask me too.

Comments

"I like especially these little extra features for each race... :D
It is also very cool, that you are going to compete with all these campaign pro's, which have joined this contest, too."

"Yes!  Go team campaign!

No additional downloads, no downgrades, just download and launch that stuff!  YEAH!  WHOO!"

"I like ur direction for ur campaign very much. The part that sticks out the most to me is that you are having a Hunter Killer take charge of his own forces, which i find an interesting concept. Reminds me of the Mercenaries missions that had elite zerg strains take control of their own mercenary bands and fought for money. Nice to see that concept revisited."

I am finished the prologue and I am about 20% done the first level. There are a TON of bugs to fix and a lot of things I still need to put in.

Don't double post, please! Lav warned you once, and he wouldn't be so friendly the next time. It happened to me once...

Oh, and instead of making a little update of your progress on the campaign once a day, you should make a longer update (with screenshots, if you wish), once a week. It'll be boring if we have to check this thread every day for new updates... ;)

Thanks for the great idea. That will work better.
I'm sorry if that sounded sarcastic, it wasn't supposed to.
I might make some videos, but I can't take screens. I don't know why, well I  can take the screenshots, but I can't open them with anything, even paint.

PCX files need to be opened with a more advanced editor such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. GIMP, a free advanced editor, could also work. As well as I'm sure InfranView, an image converter, could likely open it.

Also, omega is right, we are asking only for weekly updates, not hourly updates ;)

I have a problem. I made a beta version of Protoss level 1 in X-tra editor, Classic edition, and I saved what I had finished and was going to test it using Brood War, but as soon as I click start in the briefing room, a pop up appears saying:
Starcraft has encountered a problem and needs to close. If you were in the middle of something, you may have lost any unsaved data. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
I don't know why it's doing that, I checked all my triggers and stuff and even changed a few things but it still doesn't work. The same error continues to pop up. Please help if possible.

I think I know what happens to you. Did you placed any unused unit? If you do, you need to know that with some unused units, the game will crash upon pressing the start button on the briefing room. It doesn't recognizes it.

In such cases, the odds are that it is probably a X-tra editor only feature that you used but isn't compatible directly in BW. For example, I remember that you can put some "incomplete" command center unit which normally crashes BW if you load the map in BW. I believe a few other unofficial units does that too.

However, I can't start giving in-depth help (opening your map to see for example) since due to the contest, you should be able to fix whatever problems some way or another (including remaking your map in the worst case).

Thus, my best advice for your case is to try to make everything doable in the standard editor, keep a backup of map version made in standard editor then modify whatever you need in the X-tra editor thus if it goes horribly wrong, you can fallback to a solid earlier version.

And keep multiple versions of your existing maps, for example, change from a v0.01 to v0.02 to v0.03, etc. when saving your map. Hard drive failure, unexpected saving crashes and so on can come out of nowhere.

A note, for your Zerg portion: To almost all knowledge conceivable, all Cerebrates were decimated as Kerrigan wanted pure uninterrupted control over the Broods, the only probable survivor would be the Cerebrate the player plays.

Oh. I'll have to rethink the Zerg part... ooh I know what it's about!

Edit: My original post is changed.

Update! (Finally.) ;D

Protoss prologue: 100% done
Protoss level one: 100% done
Protoss level two: around 60% done
Protoss level three: around 40% done
everything else: 0% done

And screenshots! (If anyone can tell me how to get screenshots to be right on the post and not just dowload-able it would be appreciated.)

One: Yah'zar goes to find Mi'Shuras to see the new Praetor.

Two: Mi'Shuras says what she thinks the new Praetor will be like.

Three: Praetor Artanis gives Yah'zar orders. (Ignore minimap)

Four: Mi'Shuras' stats

Five: Yah'zar's stats

More to come! ;)

Wow, thanks Eradalis! To tell the truth, I don't really expect to win. All I expect\hope for is to finish my first campaign!
You know, If you have any campaigns, I'd like to try them.
In all three episodes, I have a protoss character known as Tardonis. Tardonis is a zealot who befriends Yah'zar and goes later of a quest to destroy Ryuuthn (but I won't tell you why).
Tardonis and Carl Dawson have been in my head forever... they are my fave Protoss and Terran characters that I've thought up, and I hope to use them in many of my campaigns. Have you made up any cool Terran, Protoss, or Zerg characters?
Even if I don't win, I want at least one person other than the judges to download my campaign.

I used the Raz sprite. (Unluckily Mi'Shuras is a girl, and the Raz sprite has regular sair voice. A female protoss with a male voice... just imagine it with Raz voice.) I think this is a good time to reveal the protoss heroes.

Yah'zar
Protoss Dark Templar
Yah'zar is powerful, smart, and brave. He knows where his loyalties lie, obeying Artanis through everything. He also is a very good teacher; he is Mi'Shuras' master.

Mi'Shuras
Protoss Corsair
Mi'Shuras toils endlessly to follow her master Yah'zar. She believes that being apprentice to him is the most honorary thing in the world.

Artanis
Protoss Scout
Artanis is only 300, yet he still became a Praetor. Artanis favors Yah'zar somewhat, and even seems to have a strange liking to Mi'Shuras.

Nishar
Protoss Dark Templar
Nishar does what he believes right. Sadly, what he believes right is that Auir should not be saved and that all the High Templar should die. This causes uprisings and turns into a rebellion.

Tardonis
Protoss Zealot
Yah'zar does not meet Tardonis till the final battle, yet Tardonis' impact on all their lives shows greatly. Revenge is the greatest thing in his life after a tragedy takes place.

Siradla
Protoss High Templar
(can fly a scout if need be)
He is the son of a noble Protoss Judicator. His name tells all. He tends to look at some things- backwards. (Hint [Siradla] hint.)

That's it.
