IskatuMesk wrote:Mark, how do you feel about texturing entire scenes? Multiple objects, mostly mechanical in nature. Some with very specific designs (ruby/gold bladed engraving) others much more industrial/gritty (like your guns). You have experience making normals, too, right?
There are 2 methods of skinning:

-Photoskinning: Simplest. You simply need to rip textures from various sources and kitbash them into your skins, most skin maker do this for scenery and world objects. I did this with all my RTS models.

-Manually drawing everything: Most difficult and time consuming. You draw everything by hand, color them, set up lighting properly, and put it into the model UV. I did this with all my gun skins. Some Photoshop options made this much more easy apparently.

It is your pick whether you want me to skin your shit in what way, I could photoskin a large portion of the terrain and reserve the manualy drawing for just the engravings and what's not. Details for me is easy, if you tell me to engrave a horse into your skins I probably could... What I couldn't do unfortunately is normals, I have never did normals before nor do I understood them...

Oh.. and did you know I'm turning Retribution into a manga IRL?

Damn. We'll need at least basic normals for this. Have you tried messing with nDo before?

And... wat?

I never knew such tools even existed... The way that plugin works seems to be very similar to how I add details in my skins actually, should be easy to adapt to it probably...
And... wat?
You have no idea how masochist it is to attempt to covert Retribution into manga format, I'm attempting to draw like 100+ lizard mens shooting each other to pieces inside the Royal Palace, oh god my hands...

Oh and ships are a bitch to draw with correct perspectives apparently...

Why would Adashim x Ananshim be silly?

WELP.

Now that I had a base model to put armor on, you could count on it that I'll be making armor and clothing for you to kitbash... That is that you haven't solved the UDK asset problems yet...

Also now I'll look into that nDo thing...

You want me to kitbash armor for you or what? :P

I am profoundly confused, a little disgusted, and slightly offended by where this discussion went. I'll just pretend it never happened.

I am 69% sure I can somehow hack one of the Amani from Tera into Adjak. The armor I really don't know about. It's too specific for me to describe and I have yet to find any good concept art for any of the characters.

Well.. that's 6 hours of efforts wasted... :P

Only 6 hours? I've wasted two weeks trying to find concept art with very little return.

Man, a thousand things would be made infinitely easier if I was an artist or some shit.

Why don't you just learn how to draw then?

I'm no artist and I've never attended art school. It's all trial and error, experimentation, and a whole lotta boiling blood baby... It took me 10 years of constant practice and reverse engineering to get to where I am today (been drawing ever since I was 7).

Also my edge flow is horrendous...

Hah, I tried to draw for years and years and years back in the day. Just like music composing, programming, and organic modeling/animation, though, it's just not going to happen.

This is where I remember my writing skills are also utter shit and I can't even describe characters.

Whelp, what a waste of a day this was. I should stick to making retarded videos.

The main post has received minor updates, including a racial description for the Anahn.
