I almost feel bad about being facetious about the story, now that I hear it. It sounds like the sort've thing I - and, let's face it, everyone else on the internet - has lived their life around. (Namely, drama.) Not that I have anything against that - I honestly live for drama, and I don't mean that in an acting sense.
...Mmm. I think it's actually really neat that you can look back after all of this time and talk about it so calmly, AA7. Since we're sharing, I used to be pretty darn homophobic - in a very passive way, of course, that dirty, sneaking way where you just subtly avoid contact with or support for or even conversation with anyone you suspect is of the homosexual persuasion. (This was a good ten years ago, admittedly. Right back when I started SC, in fact.)
Eventually, some good friends of mine opened my eyes to what I was doing to myself. 'Twas a very uplifting experience that I shan't waste time recounting in great detail. Suffice to say, I effectively consider myself 'bisexual' today, on here, and the jury's still out in real-life. But only 'cuz I intend to follow a career path that'd (Due to America's current social standards) prohibit a male partner. (That, and I haven't found any guys out
there that I actually like. :3 On that note, jeez, when did CC's boards become personal-story hour? Not that I'm complaining...
)
But...yeah. I'd encourage you not to get discouraged about this person - Rua, whether you call 'em he or she - just because they haven't filtered back. It's true that it's possible something's happened, but, on the other hand, I can't tell you how many friends of mine drifted away from Battle.net and never came back, only to contact me years later via some obscure service. (It pays to never change your E-mail, I guess.
) If what you described really happened, it's entirely possible he/she just felt so ashamed or belittled or depressed by the whole debacle that they didn't want to come back, actively, for fear of it being brought up in everyone's mind and intimately associated with them. It's possible he/she is still out there. It's even possible that he or she visits the site as a guest, and watches over things...
You're a neat lot, you know that? I don't think I've seen a single other group of forum-goers in the history of web-trawling that was so open and courteous about the issues they've had in their past. I see why so many CC maps were started and left unfinished, heh...
