The only thing I can suggest is to find your strengths and try to work with them exclusively in order to find solutions to your problems. Maybe you can read how other people cope with Aspergers online and learn from their experience.
I can at least acknowledge your situation and agree with your rant. Modern medicine just doesn't know how to handle these types of syndromes yet, nor does society understand the depth of such conditions.

Re: ADD
Hello, Muadd. I taught an Asperger's syndrome student this year. He performs well academically but struggles on larger assignments such as writing a research essay. His grammar and writing follow less on conventions and more conservational. I see the same aspects in your writing and the behavior you have described to me.
I believe you are a very fortunate individual. Yes, you struggle to maintain your attention span; however, there are many other boys who suffer from more advanced forms of disabilities. If you had autism, you would be completely different; requiring even more special needs and limited options. I agree with your frustrations that modern medicine knows does very little to treat symptoms.
Are you still in school? As a teacher, one of the things I did was try to eliminate the factors that would distract my student. Here are some of the things you can request of your teachers:
- Sit close to the front. Be as close to the teacher as possible where your senses are focused visually and auditory on him/her.
- Sit away from the door area, pencil sharpeners, and especially FRIENDS. These are the biggest distractions. Your friends won't understand how their talking will completely distract you from the task that usually catches the teacher's attention and gets you in trouble. Doors are very noisy and change light patterns in the class room. And the pencil sharpener is a lawn mower basically.
- Are you on an IEP or a 504? What are your accommodations or modifications at your school? Do you get extra writing time or shortened assignments? If you do not have an IEP or a 504 plan, you should talk to your parents and have them request one from the school.

Re: ADD
I'm not sure if a 504 or IEP extends to college; however, there are special needs accommodations you can have at the university regarding your syndrome.
An IEP is an Individualized Education Plan designed for special needs students. The purpose of the plan is to provide special modifications for you in the classroom to help you be successful in school. Your parents have a right to request one or a 504 (accommodations only) plan at the school you are attending. These plans involve a case worker, a principal, and your teacher. During a meeting, your family, the administration, and the teacher will work out an IEP or 504 plan, outlining specific accommodations (preferential seating) or modifications (extended time on assignments) for your classes. It is the responsibility of the school and the teacher to make sure these needs are being met (otherwise we are held liable). The purpose of these plans are to help you be successful in the classroom. They are kept anonymous. Teachers will make these accommodations and modifications for you without telling other students. So you don't have to feel embarrassed or ashamed that you have one.
Here's just a random site I pulled up on IEPs. Check it out:

I hope this helps you.

Re: ADD
I personally can't concentrate 40% the time in class, I always find myself day dreaming. When it comes to social life, I can't concentrate 80% of the time. luckily, at home I can concentrate and when I can concentrate I can concentrate! I'm a fucking science genius because of this!... but I fail at essays which is why I hate all my language classes.

Re: ADD
i know how you feel on that regard chris.
very annoying that the smallest thing causes day dreaming, or losing focus due lots of noise, or any other distraction.
JR. high was most difficult for me, now as stated before im on a course, but i find it hard to concentrate there too, despite the lack of noise.

Re: ADD
Reminds me of me. Often I would end up thinking of random stuff or typing things on my graphing calculator, and it didn't matter because I could extract all the information I needed from the textbook anyway (especially in math/math-related classes, of which there are a ton in engineering). And I agree: essays suck.
