"He has overpowered all attempts at his capture." -Wanted Poster

Hogger was a particularly large and brutal gnoll who lived in Elwynn Forest. He was one of the leaders of the Riverpaw Gnolls, by virtue of being large and brutal. Stormwind had placed a bounty on his head, but somehow he managed to elude capture for many years, although he may have lost a claw or two over the years.

This changed when following the Cataclysm, when a group of brave adventurers finally managed to capture Hogger.

Image
"Forest just setback!"

Hogger was taken to the Stormwind Stockade, where he and the other captured members of his gnoll pack managed to escape and start a new prison riot following an earthquake. Having taken Bazil Thredd's place as final boss of the Stormwind Stockades, Hogger was eventually, finally, killed by adventurers tasked with quelling the new prison riot.

It's a double feature weekend again! This time, it's a fel orc and his dragon.

"Is there no one left to test me?

Vazruden the Herald served as a messenger for Lord Illidan, in addition to guarding the supply lines between Hellfire Citadel and the Black Temple. He was in the process of carrying out Illidan's new orders to strengthen the defences of Hellfire Citadel in order to prevent the Alliance and Horde forces in Hellfire Peninsula from penetrating any deeper into the citadel. Illidan was particularly worried about disruptions to fel orc production in the Blood Furnace.

He failed in this task, however, when he and his nether dragon mount, Nazan, were killed by adventurers. His last message from Illidan was captured by adventurers and taken back to their respective commanders. The contents of this ominous letter prompted further investigation into the depths of Hellfire Citadel, the Blood Furnace in particular.

Now for part two of our weakest double feature weekend yet!
Image
His eyes are full of hatred.

Nazan served as a nether drake mount for Vazruden the Herald. Like most nether drakes in the service of the Illidari, Nazan was likely captured and enslaved at a young age by the Dragonmaw Clan and trained to serve them as a flying mount.

Vazruden once tried to use a riding crop in order to make Nazan fly 10% faster. Nazan, however, didn't like this idea at all and took the riding crop from him.

Nazan fought to the death alongside his master, and was likely killed by adventurers, who took his head as proof of the death of himself and Vazruden.

Netherdrakes, despite being extremely dated and their particles being really bad, are still some of the only interesting mounts in the game aesthetically.

I've always liked the netherdrake design. At first I thought it was just because dragon, but the other riding drakes never seemed quite as cool as the netherdrake did. Otherwise, I'm still quite fond of my turbo-charged gryocopter.

Anyway, looks like we're staying on the Hellfire Ramparts today!
Image
"Achor she-ki! Feast, my pet! Eat your fill!"

Omor the Unscarred was a terrrorguard demon in the service of the Illidari. He had been sent to Hellfire Citadel as an envoy, and had just taken his pet fel hound out for a walk along the ramparts when adventurers attacked.

Omor the Unscarred had earned his title due to being undefeated in combat. Being a boss in one of the most played Burning Crusade dungeons has probably ruined his reputation on that front. He was maybe killed by adventurers, they certainly defeated him in combat and took his hoof as proof of the deed. Demons, however, don't always stay dead though.

So, somewhere out there, there might be very angry terrorguard with a peg leg waiting for the hour of his revenge to come.

Caged away as a last resort against would-be assailants, this monstrosity is a danger even to the forces that created him.

Anyway, what happens when you cross a dragon with a core hound? Here's a question that no one really wanted an answer for, but Nefarian went and asked it anyway. The answer? Chromaggus.

Chromaggus was one of Nefarian's more successful experiments in combining the powers of the various dragon flights. That, however, didn't stop adventurers from killing it when they stormed Nefarian's lair in Blackrock Spire.

Fankriss the Unyielding is a sand reaver who guards the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj. Likely a sibling of Kurinaxx from the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj. As usual, Fankriss was likely destroyed by adventurers when they stormed the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj.

Using bug strategies against bugs. I like it.

Today, we have familiar face!

Image
"Rise, servants of the Nightmare! Rise and destroy this world!"

Eranikus, Tyrant of the Dream, not to be confused with his shade who haunts the Temple of Atal'Hakkar, was a green dragon corrupted by the evil that was infesting the Emerald Dream. Prior to his corruption, however, Eranikus had been one of Ysera's most trusted agents, having been tasked with both guarding the remains of the Temple of Atal'Hakkar, as well as being the guardian of one of the shards of the Scepter of the Shifting Sands.

With a joint operation between the Horde and Alliance being launched to destroy the Qiraji and their silithid minions, adventurers were tasked with the daunting task of reassembling the Scepter of the Shifting Sands, which was needed to reopen to the Gates of Ahn'Qiraji and unleash the Qiraji once more upon Kalimdor. In order to regain the shard held by the green dragonflight, adventurers, with the aid of Malfurion and Remulos, summoned Eranikus from the Emerald Dream and into the waking world. As a result, he was summoned from the Emerald Dream above Moonglade, and was successfully purified by Tyrande and a contingent of Priestesses of the Moon. Eranikus was later killed in battle against the Dragon of Nightmare, Lethon, while combating against the Nightmare that had over taken the Emerald Dream.

The encounter with Erankus, Tyrant of the Dream, was removed from the game, along with the rest of the Scepter of the Shifting Sands questline. Despite his death, his shade still haunts the Temple of Atal'Hakkar.

Meanwhile Malfurion waking up, the Emerald Dream and the associated quest line got entirely bypassed in game after leading up to it for a book.

Eranikus, Tyrant of the Dream, is wholly consumed by the Light of Elune. Tranquility sets over the Moonglade.

Yeah, I was kind of surprised that they decided to resolve all of the Emerald Nightmare stuff outside of the game, since it seems like it'd translate well into a raid, zone or even dungeon. Plus, thematically, it would have fit in really well with the rest of Cataclysm (with the Emerald Nightmare having been part of the Old God offensive). I guess that they just decided that they'd kicked the can down the road enough (there had been plans for an Emerald Dream something since vanilla), and wanted Malfurion back in play, so they just decided to wrap it up.

"The Firelord's servants aid us in our work. Surely the end approaches soon!" -High Interrogator Gerstahn

Lord Roccor is a lava elemental who patrolled the halls of the Dark Iron dungeons in Blackrock Depths, around the Ring of Law and not far from where Houndmaster Grebmar lives under the arena. Lord Roccor, tired of the politics and endless scheming of the fire elemental nobility in the Molten Core, engineered his own exile from there by angering the Fire Lord and being banished to Blackrock Depths. This is impressive, as it would likely require some finesse to anger Ragnaros just enough to send you into exile, rather than destroy you where you stood.

While some would argue that being exiled to Blackrock Depths would be a terrible fate, Lord Roccor seemed to be quite content with his choices. It's hard to say how he felt about being smashed up by adventurers though. As a type of fire elemental, he'd simply be banished back to the Firelands upon his destruction. As such: probably still alive, assuming that he survived Ragnaros' return to the Firelands, and the subsequent invasion by adventurers that followed.

This weekend, we'll let our madness do the driving and see where it takes us.
Image
"Madness has brought you here to me. I shall be your undoing!"

Prince Malchezaar is a prince of the Eredar and member of the Burning Legion, and final boss of Karazahn. Sometime after Medivh's death, Malchezaar took up residence in his old tower, Karazahn, and claimed it for himself. His true motives and goals remain unexplored, however as Karazahn sits atop a powerful convergence of magical ley lines, and can act as a bridge between Azeroth and the Nether, it shouldn't be surprising that a demon would want to claim possession of the tower. Vast magical power at your disposal, and free access to a world? What more would a demon want? Malchezaar is a noted collector of magic weapons, and has managed to claim several interesting pieces. Of particular note is Gorehowl.

Image
The axe of Grom Hellscream has sown terror across hundreds of battlefields.

Gorehowl was the axe of Grom Hellscream, famously used by him to slay the demon Mannoroth, and a whole lot of other people. After his death, Thrall held onto the axe, eventually passing it on to Grom's son, Garrosh Hellscream. Garrosh then proceeded to use the axe to kill a lot of people, including Cairne Bloodhoof, until he discarded it in favour of Xal'atoh, a warped copy of Gorehowl, forged using the power of the Old God, Y'Shaarj.

The question that has plagued people since Burning Crusade has been how, exactly, did Gorehowl end up in Prince Malchezaar's loot table? It's possible (likely) that they just wanted to put a famous weapon in his loot table to show that he was a collector of weapons, and the axe of Grom Hellscream simply seemed like a good fit. Did Malchezaar somehow manage to steal Gorehowl after it was used to kill Mannoroth, and it remained in his possession until it was taken from him by adventurers who in turn gave to Thrall who passed it on to Garrosh? The latest expansion, however, opens up some far more interesting possibilities, as Warlords of Dreanor takes place in an alternate past version of the world of Draenor, in which the Burning Legion was not successful in transforming the orcs into their own, personal, crazed, bloodlusted and rampaging army. They're still conquers though. Either way, Warlords of Draenor has shown us that their are alternate versions of the worlds we know, and that they're places we can go to.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aRBL590Bd8
"All realities, all dimensions are open to me!"

Suddenly, what had seemed like a simple badass boast while calling an infernal down on our heads seems a lot more sinister. Alternate Draenor introduces us to an alternate Burning Legion. It seems possible that Prince Malchezaar is, in fact, a demon from another reality where he collected that world's Gorehowl, while our reality's Gorehowl remained in its chain of possession. Alternatively, with Karazahn already being a weird place and a portal to other worlds, its possible that we're the ones who wandered into Malchezaar's reality where he was master of Karazahn, while our Karazahn was actually just full of dust and ghosts.

Anyway, regardless of our or his origins, Prince Malchezaar was defeated by adventurers and banished from Karazahn. As a demon, it's unlikely that he was killed permanently, although as we did fight him within something like the Twisting Nether, so its possible that he may have been actually been killed. Fate: unknown.

Suddenly I'm reminded of more bad raiding memories. A paladin in full T4 (gear you get AFTER clearing Karazhan) couldn't hold aggro on this guy. My shadow priest didn't even get to use mind flay, because I'd end up overtaking the tank on threat. On top of that, shadow priests were mana batteries in BC, not DPS.

Meanwhile, Arcan's brother, a paladin in greens, had no trouble holding aggro on this guy whatsoever.
