One cannot stand for long against Flamemaw before they are incinerated by the drake's molten heat.

Firemaw was one of the black dragons who helped to defend Nefarian's lair in Blackrock Mountain. He was killed by adventurers when they stormed Blackwing Lair and killed his master, Nefarian.

”We come from below! You can never stop us!”

Grubbis and his basilisk friend, Chomper, was a one of the many troggs who invaded Gnomeregan. While the radioactive gases unleashed by Sicco Thermaplugg into the city just made most troggs angry, they caused Grubbis to grow bigger and stronger. Now he commands smaller troggs and drives them into the city. Only the gnomish demolitionist, Blastmaster Emi Shortfuse, and her adventurer friends can hold them off and collapse the tunnels to prevent any more troggs from getting in that way.

No one fights this guy 'cause the event takes forever and everyone wants to get out of Gnomeregan as quickly as possible. Likely alive, because adventurers are too impatient to fight him.

"Your efforts are utterly pointless, foosl! You will never be able to defeat me!"

Emperor Dagran Thaurissan was the leader of the Dark Iron dwarves and ruler of Shadowforge City, in the depths of Blackrock Mountain. He was the descendant of the original Emperor Thaurissan, who famously summoned Ragnaros and got his people enslaved by the Fire Lord. An issue that has troubled the Dark Iron Dwarves to this day.

In addition to his people's enslavement, Dagran also struggled with his people's constant losses against the Horde, the Dark Horde, and the Black Dragonflight who made their home within Blackrock Spire, a great fortress which had been built and designed by the greatest dwarven architect. As such, Dagran was always on the look out for opportunities to expand his power, gain allies, conquer Ironforge, get revenge, and help restore his people to their former greatness. To this end, he reached out to the Leper Gnomes, promising their leader, the self-proclaimed King of Gnomeregan, half of Ironforge in return for his help in invading the city. He was also able to reclaim the mighty hammer, Ironfoe, from the unworthy human who'd inherited it.

By a stroke of luck, he'd also managed to capture Moira Bronzebeard, the daughter of his most hated foe, Magni Bronzebeard. While she was a Bronzebeard, she was also royalty, and so Dagran treated her with the respect and kindness that her position warranted. Of time, however, Dagran was surprised to discover just how much he'd come to care for the daughter of his arch-rival. Even more, that she felt much the same way. Degran Thaurissan and Moira Bronzebeard were married, effectively uniting the ruling families of the Dark Iron and Bronzebeard clans. King Magni Bronzebeard did not approve at all.

Magni, whether he was upset about his daughter marrying his archenemy, or truly convinced that Degran had used some sort of dark magic to control her, sent a hit squad of adventurers to take her away from Shadowforge and bring her back safely to Ironforge. The adventurers stormed through Shadowforge City, killing many of its most prominent citizens before finally reaching the Imperial Seat and killing Degran Thaurissan. Moira, however, refused to leave with the adventurers. Magni, for his part, seemed to have found some solace in the death of his old enemy.

"You will drown in blood!"

Hydromancer Thespia was a naga hydromancer. She was a childhood friend of Lady Vashj and grew up with her in the city of Vashj'ir. Following the Sundering and their subsequent transformation into naga, the two remained close friends. When Lady Vashj decided to follow Illidan, Thespia happily followed her friend to Kalimdor, Lordaeron, and beyond, to Outland.

As construction of the Coilfang Reservoir continued, Lady Vashj placed Thespia in charge of overseeing operations within the Steamvault, the mechanical heart of the pumping operation.

Thespia was killed by adventurers sent by the Cenarion Expedition to help sabotage the naga's efforts to drain the waters of Zangarmarsh. Furthmore, the sample of highly prized underworld loam was taken from corpse, and used to make a demon-slaying sword by the blacksmith, David Wayne.

Drawn to the power contained in Blackfathom Deeps, the Blindlight murlocs have no intention of sharing it.

Gelihast was a murloc warrior and leader of the Blindlight tribe. Hearing the calls of the Old Gods, Gelihast and his tribe were drawn to the ruins of Blackfathom Deeps where they immediately came into conflict with the Twilight's Hammer cultists who were also trying to worship the Old Gods there. After killing enough of them, the Twilight's Hammer backed down, and gave the murloc tribe space it needed.

This remained a stable relationship for many years, until the Twilight's Hammer in Blackfathom Deeps came under new management. Gelihast was killed by Subjugator Kor'ul a Faceless One summoned by the cultists to act as their new enforcer and help bring the rest of Blackfathom Deeps under their direct control. Kor'ul then took control of the remaining Blindlight murlocs, and left Gelihast's broken corpse on a display as a warning of what would happen if any other murloc disobeyed him.

”The Soulflayer comes!”

Jammal'an the Prophet was the leader of the Atal'ai trolls. He has dedicated himself to resurrecting the Gurubashi troll blood god, Hakkar the Soulflayer. Under Jammal'an's leadership, the Atal'ai were able to reclaim their ancient stronghold, the Temple of Atal'hakkar, in the depths of the Swamps of Sorrows, from the Green Dragonflight. Jammal'an believed that once the Atal'ai succeeded in their task, Hakkar would grant them immortality.

He was always accompanied by his undead bodyguard, Ogom the Wretched. Together, they were killed by adventurers seeking to stop the resurrection of Hakkar. Adventurers removed his head from his shoulders, and used it as proof of his demise.

Trolls do have fancy clothes.

"Aid me, my brood!"

High Priestess Mar'li was the high priestess and mortal champion of the troll spider goddess, Shadra. She, along with several other high priests of the Gurubashi tribe, banded together to prevent the resurrection of the Blood God, Hakkar, within the ruins of Zul'Gurub. She and her companions failed, however, and fell under the control of Hakkar.

She was freed from Hakkar's control with the help of a group of adventurers who killed her. While dead, her soul was at least freed from the Soulflayer's influence, for which she was grateful. This, however, was not the end of Mar'li.

Image
"Yer soul belongs ta me!"

Sometime following her demise, High Priestess Mar'li was resurrected, likely as part of the Gurubashi efforts to help the Zandalari Tribe's ambitions to form a new, united troll empire. With their initial efforts stymied, the trolls needed allies, and found it in the form of the ancient allies who had once ruled the lost continent of Pandaria, the mogu. Mar'li was to act as the leader of the Gurubashi delegation to the newly resurrected mogu emperor, the Thunder King, Lei Shen.

She and the delegates from the other tribes were killed by adventurers, who had come to prevent the Thunder King from unleashing his wrath upon Pandaria.

"I don't even care if you answer my questions now! Your torment is too much fun!"

High Interrogator Gerstahn worked as the chief torturer for the Dark Iron Dwarves in addition to being a member of the Twilight's Hammer. She really liked her job, although her efficiency seems to questionable. Well, depending if you're measuring efficiency by information gleaned or how much screaming in pain and agony was produced.

She was killed by adventuers looking to rescue Marshal Windsor, who had been in her care for some time.

Legend holds that Zaetar and the earth elemental princess, Theradras, sired the misbegotten centaur race.

Princess Theradras was the daughter of Therazane the Stonemother, the Elemental Lord of earth. She had fallen in love with the Keeper of the Grove, and first son of Cenarius, Zaetar. Together, they spawned the centaur species, who promptly murdered their father. Filled with grief, Theradras retreated to the depths of Maraudon, where she buried her lost love.

The presence of Zaetar's remains transformed the caverns into a beautiful, lush garden, preventing it from being infected by the corruption that would one day overtake the rest of the caverns. Theradras' actions, whether intentional or not, also resulted in Zaetar's spirit being trapped in Maraudon. In time, Zaetar's nephew, Celebras, traveled there in an effort to free his lost uncles' spirit, however in the end he succumbed to the corruption that had infected Maraudon.

Prior to the Cataclysm, Cho'gall freed Princess Theradras from the bonds the Titans had placed on her that had bound her to the Titan vault, Terromok, within Maraudon. Theradras had no interest in leaving, however, as she would not abandon Zeatar's remains. She was, however, more than happy to lend her support to Cho'gall and the Twilight's Hammer, as she took some delight in the suffering that her earthquakes caused to the mortals living on the surface.

For her part in the Elemental Unrest, Princess Theradras was killed by adventurers in the employ of Garrosh Hellscream or Magni Bronzebeard in retaliation for attacks by elementals on Horde and Alliance cities. Unfortunately, her death did little to prevent the Cataclysm itself, and served to poison Therazane's opinion of mortals, causing her to initially be quiet hostile to the Earthen Ring and adventurers who had travelled to Deepholme to repair the broken World Pillar and combat the Twilight's Hammer forces there.

Much like the rest of Maraudon, the Cataclysm caused Theradras' level to drop by about ten.

Her mom's design was directly based off of the Venus of Willendorf, which I thought was neat. I dunno what's up with Theradras' extra set of arms and pair of faces though. Maybe her dad was an Old God?

"I crush weaklings like you every day. Bring it on!"

Theldren was a dwarven warrior, mercenary, and gladiator. He was formerly a member of the Veiled Blades, a mercenary group who had been hired to steal Lord Valthalak's spellbook. Valthalak, formerly Nefarian's general at Blackrock Spire, had been killed by the group, but he continued to haunt them through the cursed amulet they had stolen from his corpse. He would periodically send spectral assassins after them in an effort to kill them. Theldren took his leave of the group, and chose to assemble his own group of assorted thugs and goons, and travelled to Blackrock Depths to fight as a gladiator at the Ring of Law.

He and his gladiator goons were later challenged and beaten up by adventurers looking to break Lord Valthalak's curse. After he was sufficiently roughed up, they took his fragment of the cursed amulet the Veiled Blades had stolen. Still alive, unless Valthalak's spectral assassins got him before the curse was broken.

”Rend dares make such grand claims because of the protection he is afford by the black flight.” -Thrall

Warchief Rend Blackhand was the son of Blackhand the Destroyer, Warchief of the Dark Horde, chieftain of the Blackrock and Black Tooth Grin clans. He had a long running dispute with Thrall over who is the true Warchief of the Horde. In canon, he's also the player character for the Orc Campaign in WarCraft II: Tides of Darkness.

Rend and his brother, Maim, fought under the command of their father, Warchief Blackhand, against the draenei, and then against the humans of the Kingdom of Azeroth during the First War. Following Blackhand's assassination and the ascendency of Orgrim Doomhammer to Warchief of the Horde and chieftain of the Blackrock Clan, they were quick to gather their most loyal followers, and form their own clan, the Black Tooth Grin. Although they distrusted Orgrim for having killed their father, and regularly questioned his orders, they served him loyally throughout the war.

Image

Following the defeat of the Orcish Horde at the end of the Second War, Rend and Maim went into hiding, and managed to avoid capture by the Alliance. They eventually made their way back to Blackrock Spire, were they took control of the remnants of the Blackrock clan. Together, they served as co-chiefs of both the Blackrock and Black Tooth Grin clans. However, as both their clans had been weakened considerably by the battles of the Second War, the Dark Iron Dwarves saw this as their opportunity to reclaim the upper levels of Blackrock Spire from the orcs.

The two were later approached by Teron Gorefiend who had been sent by Ner'zhul to recruit them into his Horde, as well as secure the support of the Dragonmaw Clan, who was still loyal to Rend and Maim. The two brothers had no interest in Ner'zhul's offer, and sent Teron on his way. Teron would later encounter Deathwing, who leant Ner'zhul the support of the Black Dragonflight, and sent his son, Nefarian, the take control of Blackrock Spire. While Rend and Maim had no interest in joining Ner'zhul, they were quick to accept the support of Nefarian and his black dragons. With their new allies, they quickly turned the tides against the Dark Iron Dwarves, sending them back to the depths of Blackrock Mountain. Tragically, however, Maim was killed in this endeavour, leaving Rend as sole ruler of the Dark Horde.

Image

Rend continued to build up his forces, and maintained the alliances of the Old Horde, retaining the support of the Amani trolls and several ogre tribes. However, his continued boasting of being the true Warchief of the Horde, and the growing threat he posed to the Horde should he decide to prove his claim through war, led Thrall to send a group of adventurers to assassinate Rend, and bring his head back as proof of his demise. They did just that.

While the Dark Horde remained united following the death of Rend, they were ultimately displaced from Upper Blackrock Spire by the Ironmarch, the Iron Horde's expeditionary force sent to Azeroth. As a result, Rend has been removed from the game. He and his brother do not appear to have alternate past counterpart in the Iron Horde's Draenor. Despite rumours to contrary, Rend never traveled to Outland, never became a Fel Orc, or served in Magtheridon's army alongside his brother Maim, and he was never killed by the Illidari. That was a different Rend and Maim.

"Ah, you're just in time. The rituals are about to begin!"

Terestian Illhoof was a satyr warlock who dwelt within a hidden area accessible only by a secret passage behind a bookshelf in the Guardian's Library in Karazhan. He worships an entity he refers to as the Great One and routinely makes sacrifices in His honour. Also he summons imps. So many imps.

How, exactly, he came to live in Karazhan unknown. As his Great One is likely the Dark Titan and master of the Burning Legion, Sargeras, he may have been invited by Medivh, who was possessed by the spirit of Sargeras at the time, or he may have arrived as an agent of Prince Malchezaar. The mystery of his origins will likely never be resolved, as he has since been killed by adventurers while they were investigating the demonic presence that had taken root in Karazhan.
