Never heard of the movie, so I felt very confused as to the significance of the article, even after having read it. I thought this kind of thing happens often enough that it doesn't really warrant special note for this case?

Yeah, like when Steven Spielberg became Stephanie Spilby.

Cloud Atlas is a pretty trippy book, definitely worth attempting to read. Not sure how they could even begin to try to pretend to pull a movie version off for it but I'll enjoy watching them try.
