Newgrounds Game: Larry and the Gnomes
Larry and the Gnomes
Played this one today. It's a side-scrolling adventure game where you set out battling Gnomes who've all gone....really really bad.
But, for those who go and play it, I have to warn you: It's fairly hard even on easy mode.

Good game but the mounted boss just pisses me off to no end, I'll go play Indian Outlaw for a bit.

Yeah, he's a pain in the ass if you don't know how to dodge him charging at you. I managed to make it to the third boss (The Freak), and he's pretty difficult.GreatGodSajuuk wrote: Good game but the mounted boss just pisses me off to no end, I'll go play Indian Outlaw for a bit.
It's made by the same guy who came up with The Paladin.
Edit: Finally managed to beat it. And the guy who narrates the story......eventually takes a piss on the fireplace.

Lol, I'll try it again. In all seriousness it's one of the most elaborate flash games I've ever played, it doesn't really feel like a flash game actually.

Re: Newgrounds Game: Larry and the Gnomes
Finally got around to this, just finished Act II.
I think it's a great game, but the weapon switching is a rare occasion for me, and I find it silly that I'm using regular gnome weapons with spell attributes rather than some giant sword simple because it's overall better and the bigger slower weapons have no benefit.
Act 1 boss was difficult for me before I understood the fire dodging. After that it was extremely easy.
Act 2 boss I died against at least fifteen times before I realized how it works, and after that honestly it's probably easier than the first boss.

Re: Newgrounds Game: Larry and the Gnomes
Yeah, dodging the Boar Rider's charging is difficult the first time facing him. The key there is to wait in one vertical spot (i.e. top or bottom) until you see the screen shake, then move to the opposite end. He'll toss a spear, which you have to pick up and throw at him to stun him.
As for the Freak, same logic but he's not charging you right off the bat. Just pick up the food the crowd throws at you, throw it at him (which he'll eat), then attack. After wards, he'll jump high into the air, then land at one of the edges of the area and charge at you. At this moment, double tap the left/right button and jump to leap over him unharmed.
I don't have any definite suggestions for the final boss. He does a crap-ton of damage, and he's beefy.
I personally just grab whatever fancy weapon I can get and fight from there, only switching when I find another one worth taking (i.e. poison sword).
There are cameo weapons, but I didn't even bother grabbing any of them: I was just focused on beating the darn thing.
Edit: Found one cameo weapon: A Lightsaber!
Edit 2: Beat the game a second time (the last 2 bosses were a lot easier with the lightsaber). And, as a bonus, I managed to get a picture of the narrator taking a piss on the fireplace.

Re: Newgrounds Game: Larry and the Gnomes
I just didn't come across it yet. Then again, I did recall seeing the Kingdom key when I first played through the game.Lavarinth wrote: You didn't see the Master Sword?
Edit: Found another cameo sword. Not sure what it's from, but it's viewable in yet another screenshot I've got.
And I've got to admit, I love the part where you're falling down into the depths of the Gnome city (grab a rage power-up and bash into the rocks).

Re: Newgrounds Game: Larry and the Gnomes
Found all of these swords lately. Now there's just one more (out of to find, I think.
Edit: Yep. It's the lightsaber, which I did find but forgot to take a screenshot of it.

There's also a Klingon Bat'leth.

I've seen it plenty of times.

By the way, it would be nice to see the damage on all of them (and not just on Cloud's sword).

*Lightsaber - 30 dmageRicky_Honejasi wrote: By the way, it would be nice to see the damage on all of them (and not just on Cloud's sword).
Buster Sword - 40 damage
Keyblade - 40 damage
*God of War Blade - 30 damage
Sword of Ancient Paladins - 40 damage
Frostmourne - 30 (x2) damage
*Sting - 30 damage
* these swords can be swung about as quickly as every other light weapon.
This is how I was able to find all the swords, except I found Sting in Act IV (the chasm part, to be precise).
