Hello folks.
Let me introduce myself and tell you my story.
I'm new here, however I'm also a long-time lurker and ancient member of the Campaign Creations staff. I was once a map/campaign/mod designer myself for games such as StarCraft, Age Of Empires II, WarCraft II and III. However I've been inactive and disappeared for a looong, long time. It's been years I suppose. I doubt any of you remember me, though some of my former aliases were 'Chris,' 'The Downward Spiral.' I had a few StarCraft projects hosted here somewhere around the time Desler just finished the Fenix, though sadly I never finished anything. You can find a few of my old Age of Empires projects at http://www.ageofkings.com if you search their mod section. There was another ancient time when Campaign Creations' three main games of focus were SC, AoE2, and Dark Reign II. I remember I tried to pick up the DR2 department when CC member DI/Magnus left, but I didn't really have the programming skills at the time to keep up with the DR2 modding community. I guess I lost interest sometime after.
One of my best works was a role-playing story called 'the Nexus.' It was an Age of Empirse campaign. It was a story about time travel and focused on a two kings who were unknowingly trapped never-ending, looping timeline. There was a god who forged this timeloop, and it continued until the characters succeeded in bringing salvation to the world and creating a sort of Utopia. It was alright. When I look back on it these days though, the script completely urks me. It was very amateurish. I think I was 16 when I wrote all the dialogues.
And since I'm introducing myself here, I should probably come clean and be honest about everything. I was once kicked from the Campaign Creations. Heh, by Desler himself. And for good reasons. I did a childish, foolish stunt provoked by a friend and basically spammed the CC boards with detestable nonsense. At my defense, I was 15 and brainless at the time. I'm 21 years old now. I've sincerely apologized since then, and I really don't know what I was thinking. In fact, I probably wasn't thinking much of anything at all.
I'm an adult now, and my behavior as well as my storywriting competence have both matured greatly since then. I do hope you accept me into your community. With StarCraft II now on the horizon, I imagine that this place could become very productive and very active in the near future. And I want to experience it all. I have tons of ideas brewing in my head for really cool sci-fi stories that could fit the framework of the StarCraft universe.
To prepare for StarCraft, I've been re-playing all the Blizzard campaigns and reacquainting myself with the story. And not to sound like a fanboy, but I love your work Desler. The stories, the characters, and especially the music choices. I plan on replaying all of that stuff. I was always bummed out that your WarCraft III project got cancelled. What was it called again? I remember you and Joel Steudler had a great-looking website for it.
I'm also interested in experiencing whatever great StarCraft campaigns I missed while I was gone. Does anyone have any good recommendations? I plan on giving all that Antioch stuff a whirl again.
Anyway, I hope to get to know many of you better in time. If any of you play WoW, I'm Puffles on the Emerald Dream server.
See you around,
Puffles
