PEEHS 2

Post by Milldawg »

Well, it seems Peehs was a success. Let's try ANOTHER ONE.

It will work the same as Peehs. If you didn't play that one, check it out to make sure you know the RULES.

AND NOW, THE NEW BATCH OF CHALLENGES! Not categorizes this time because they don't really fall into categories.

1. Name a fruit.
2. Name a vegetable.
3. Name a candy bar.
4. Name a type of hat.
5. Name a car company.
6. Name a sport.
7. Name a dance.
8. Name a breed of dog.
9. Name a mythological creature.
10. Name a body part.
11. Name a room in a house.
12. Name a TV channel.
13. Name a university department.
14. Name a prime minister.
15. Name a StarCraft unit. (Brood War counts too.)

Like before, just PM me with your answers to these 15 queries to play. Please MAKE SURE you have answered them ALL. I will combine the answers with those on Chaos Sanctuary, like last time.

DO IT.

This will be easy.  The topics are super broad.  There will be no room for error.
I have seen the Desler.  I have tasted of his milk and honey.

Well, I have received enough results. LET'S DO THIS.

We had 15 players (between CampaignCreations and Chaos Sanctuary):
AA7Dragoon
Aekenon
Arcan
Fallen
FlyingHat
Frozty
Lavarinth
mAc Chaos
Mucky
Oopyman
Ricky_Honejasi
saintkerrigan
VDJ
WedgeAntilles
Zilla-

And here are the results of the first question!

1. Name a fruit.
I don't know what Mucky was thinking...

Pomegranate - 2
VDJ
WedgeAntilles

Chickpea - WRONG
Mucky

Everything else - 1
AA7Dragoon - Raspberry
Aekenon - Tomato
Arcan - Golden Apple

FlyingHat - Lychee
Frozty - Mango
Lavarinth - Starfruit
mAc Chaos - Jujube
Oopyman - Tangerine
Ricky_Honejasi - Clementine
saintkerrigan - Blackberry
Zilla- - Dragonfruit

I'm gonna do the scoring slightly different this time. I'm only going to give demerits for each OTHER person who shared your answer. Which basically means I chop off one demerit from everyone's score each round. Don't worry about it.

SCORES SO FAR:

Frozty 0
Lavarinth 0
mAc Chaos 0

WTF

A chickpea is a legume.

Which is a FRUIT.

Lick my nuts.

EDIT: Perhaps I should elaborate. A legume is the edible part of a plant which is referred to as a fruit or seed. In fact, scientifically speaking, pretty much all legumes are grouped in the fruit category. The confusion starts with the term "vegetable". However that is strictly a culinary term, whereas "fruit" is a botany term. If you would read some articles on tomatoes, you'd learn that the two terms are not mutually exclusive.

Yeah, yeah. "Technically," practically anything is a fruit. But you wouldn't find chickpeas in the "Fruit" section of a food pyramid. And I think that's a fair criterion to use.

OK. You should remove Aekenon's "Tomato" as a valid answer, then, because those are served as vegetables. Though technically speaking, it's a fruit.

Tomatoes are widely regarded as both a fruit and a vegetable. Chickpeas are not.

Apologies to saintkerrigan for not noticing his PMs. I've edited the first post to include him.

AND NOW:
2. Name a vegetable.
I would consider dandelion leaves, chives, and garlic to be herbs or spices rather than vegetables. Maybe TECHNICALLY CORRECT (and maybe not, I don't even know), but this is not EXPLOIT TECHNICAL MINUTIAE 2, it's PEEHS 2.

Leek - 2
FlyingHat
mAc Chaos

Chives - WRONG
Fallen

Garlic - WRONG
VDJ

Dandelion Leaves - WRONG
WedgeAntilles

Other dudes - 1
AA7Dragoo - Turnip
Aekenon - Tomato
Arcan - Pea
Frozty - Asparagus
Lavarinth - Cabbage
Mucky - Cauliflower
Oopyman - Beet
Ricky - Cucumber
saintkerrigan - Artichoke
Zilla - Radish

SCORES SO FAR:
AA7Dragoon 0
Aekenon 0
Arcan 0
Frozty 0
Lavarinth 0
Oopyman 0
Ricky_Honejasi 0
saintkerrigan 0
Zilla- 0
FlyingHat 1
mAc Chaos 1
Fallen 2
Mucky 2
VDJ 3
WedgeAntilles 3

Come on, garlic is a vegetable just like onion or leek (they even belong to the same family, iirc). You can eat its leaves or you can eat its root (the thing I do every summer/autumn).

So what makes it different from any other vegetable? The fact that it's spicy? Well, a tomato isn't sweet either and if you're going to tell several kids that you're about to give them some fruits and hand out tomatoes, the little fellows aren't going to be satisfied.

The point I'm trying to make is that garlic is in the same group as leek or onion. All three, at least in the place where I live, are considered to be bulbous vegetables.
