Re: SC2 Campaigns?

Well, to be fair the instant death traps are largely a limitation of the SC1 engine. Yeah. My SC1 maps had plenty of these, but this is something I'm willing to avoid entirely in SC2. This doesn't mean there won't be some bosses with AoE attacks that deal huge damage and trigger big fireworks, but ...

Re: SC2 Campaigns?

Hmmm, sounds good enough for me.

What about the "set next map" thingy being used as a complex device for a Rexxar-like campaign that involves going back and forth between maps? Possible or not?

Re: SC2 Campaigns?

I've yet to buy SC2... been playing at a friend's and, while I really like the game itself, the publishing issue and the lack of a proper campaign format suck. However, one might still get around it... but I've two questions for those who have tried the editor already and are somewhat experienced wi...

Re: Ret-Conning Greatly Weakens SC2 Story

It'd have been a much better cliffhanger ending, indeed. "Yes, that bitch's finally paid for all the suffering she's caused. Now go in boys, I want her head in a spike so we can exhibit it all over the Kopru-- oh shit." *Screen shows Kerrigan alive and in human form; slowly, Raynor and Tyc...

Re: Ret-Conning Greatly Weakens SC2 Story

Diablo's always had a heavier emphasis on atmosphere than plot. If anything, its plot lightness works to its benefit. It's Dark Fantasy, that's a genre all about mortals taking on the forces of evil and darkness and losing. All the gains you make in Diablo 1 and 2 only buy humanity a short term rep...

Re: Ret-Conning Greatly Weakens SC2 Story

Oh, but there is a direction in SC2's plot, which happens to be really "a straightforward threat, and in the end the good guys overwhelm their issues and end up saving the universe", it's just that you hated it. Not quite. The overall direction of the plot, and of the very name "Wing...

Re: Ret-Conning Greatly Weakens SC2 Story

The best game plots in my opinion are those found in Silent Hill 2 and 4. One could argue that the storytelling techniques weren't quite the best - specially if you don't pay attention to details that might seem to be background or simply irrelevant in the long run - but in the end everything is qui...

Re: help with Flame Knives

Advance all the other characters, looking for trigger mechanisms that look the same. Some may be hard to spot, but from memory, at least one of them requires more than 1 character at a triggering location.

Re: Flame Knives map 5

If I recall well, it's the round with the Lurkers and Hydralisks vs Dark Templar, right?

Position your Lurkers behind the Hydras and have them attack one Hydra when the Dark Templar are really close. The Lurkers' splash damage will kill the DTs. Attack a second Hydra if the DTs aren't all dead.

SCLegacy's summary: * The marketplace is still on the list of things to do. It is coming, we don't know when. We've also been looking at upgrading the map size limit for battle.net. * Blizzard DoTA is something that will continually be supported by Blizzard. * Blizzard is looking into the lag and de...

Re: BlizzCon

What part of "sometime between now and legacy of the void" wasn't clear? How about that one guy at the Q&A being told to go independantly promote his map on his own website because the devs don't even use SC2's system, thats the same Blizzard you are telling us it will all be fine alo...

Re: Cool single player boss fight in sc2

Agreed, the beginning was very cool but a change in behavior as the boss' HP drops would make it far better IMO.

I love that YS music in the background though. :D
