Re: Satyr Saturday Replays Week 71 and up

I'm thinking a "Buttdozer" that's kind of an equivalent to the Torrasque. Melee, Siege Engine model. Has a basic ability like Charge, but has a lower cooldown, and instead of knocking back, units get stuck to the front of it (they can still attack and use abilities). When it crashes throug...

Re: Satyr Saturday Replays Week 71 and up

Lv5 and up Owl Scout has Bloodlust, is that affected too? I think part of what gives Horde an advantage is the healing wards; the only reason they're balanced in melee is because players are smart enough to attack them. AoS waves aren't, and although I tried to get Spell Breakers to steal them, the ...

Re: Satyr Saturday Replays Week 71 and up

Just a quick modification to TGS, I added a vote option to allow all abilities for both sides. I also made the neutral abils the same for the factions in general (both life drain and chemical rage allowed by default.)

Could probably use testing.

Re: Micro and Tactics with Editor

Yeah, it's big, but never having done AI I don't have reference on how efficient it is. The function I made is just trig with some if conditions.

Re: Micro and Tactics with Editor

After some Storm data-mining it looks like some functionality in LoTV will make the unit's implementation easier. Stuff like allowing Search Areas to use a rectangle and possibly fixing the Arc validator that doesn't currently work. Unfortunately they still "cheat" a little by using trigge...

Re: Micro and Tactics with Editor

That's hard to say. I'm pretty satisfied with the model and animations, but might try to add a few particles, and I still need a few attachment points and other stuff. Then I still need to finish up the mechanics in the data editor.

Re: Micro and Tactics with Editor

Yeah, still working on this. Had a headache trying to get the spinning vanes animation to work independent of the morph anim so I can transition into a spin down anim when it completes a rotation into the right position, instead of making it spaz out when the morph anim starts. Seems to be working f...

Re: MK X has DLC characters on the disc.

This basically amounts to "crippleware". I'm against nickel-and-diming DLC on principle; in addition to the MMO-style cost leech, it's unnerving to know that if something happens to both your hardware and the distributor, you'll lose it entirely. I'm wary of download-only console software ...

Re: Legacy of the Void Beta Now Live

There appears to be a function to set the pathing type in a region, which is great if you intend to use the cliff pathing for water pathing instead. We need a mover pathing type that can pass through "structure" pathing but not cliffs so we can block ranps to dry land with "structure&...

Re: Legacy of the Void Beta Now Live

Agreed. Apparently there's a good number of new trigger natives, including stuff like modifying weapon period cooldown remaining (trying to do this with cooldown functions in the current sc2 doesn't work), and a new category called "effect history". I'm kind of concerned that keeping track...

Re: Micro and Tactics with Editor

Haha, thanks, that means a lot coming from you. I intend to wrap existing textures instead of modifying them at all, so that helps it stay consistent (and save file space). Is the arbiter the one that looks like someone scribbled a Sharpie on it? http://www.sc2mapster.com/assets/hammers-assets/files...

Re: Micro and Tactics with Editor

Here's a preview, still lots to do on this thing. The Blender plugin works quite well for exporting but some models fail to import; I'm making a bunch of shapes from scratch instead.

It's probably best to give the thing spell damage so armor and hardened shield don't react to it incorrectly.

Re: Micro and Tactics with Editor

To be honest, I don't even know how to make a custom model. I have Blender, but I'd have to look into that plugin, and get the version that actually works with it. I don't feel like dumping hundreds of dollars for 3DSMax or whatever.

Re: Micro and Tactics with Editor

Yeah, those are nice, but I had been looking for doodads and civilian/uncommon Protoss units that have any team color at all. Even exempting that, there are just a few decent models like the warp core, and most of them don't have a bottom. Some of the terrain objects are nice too but have a ton of p...
