Re: Starcraft Universe Trailer

In Unreal 4 you get full, free access to the source code. I and many others consider that the industry standard for this kind of software right now. I expect the other prebuilt engines to eventually fold to that marketing scheme or lose their high-end licensees, as it is apparently quite an issue f...

Re: Starcraft Universe Trailer

I hardly even know where to begin. It doesn't really matter how much or how little it is. It's a map that is piggybacking for dear life. They took $76,500 USD from kickstarter after fees and made themselves monetarily obligated to their (investors) backers. They are handling it so very poorly and d...

Re: Starcraft Universe Trailer

The difference between the two is rather blurred now a days. People who purely work in the editor can get paid 50k as technical designers at Blizzard. And this is normal, many people do high level technical work, that simply uses other toolsets. And maybe this project will be a good experience on ho...

Re: Starcraft Universe Trailer

As far as I'm aware, the project is still going. As for 85k being a lot of money... that's actually too little. For comparison, a full time game programmer expect usually to make in the 50-60k range, starting. So 85k over 2 people over 2 years... isn't enough. Arguably, this is one component of why ...

Re: Introductions and General Trigger Changes coming in Legacy of the Void

Yes, the 64 bit client is not stable/optimized yet. I would avoid it for the time being. There is a patch coming out tomorrow that may address these issues. I may attempt to go through and enumerate all new fields for all data types. It may be difficult due to the sheer number, but I think it is war...

Re: Introductions and General Trigger Changes coming in Legacy of the Void

I'm going to be setting up a git repository for data wizards. Since they are simple XML, this I feel is the best way for developers to use/manipulate/contribute to them. I have developed my first fairly extensive wizard. This wizard lets you build a weapon, select models for impact and a missile, an...

Re: Introductions and General Trigger Changes coming in Legacy of the Void

Kinetics are not broken, just incomplete. The data can be manually entered in XML if needed. Each kinetic does what it says on the tin. Follow: Units are forced to follow the movement of another unit (in relation to the apply kinetic effect). Translate: Directly moves the unit in the direction indic...

Re: Introductions and General Trigger Changes coming in Legacy of the Void

I probably should create a new thread for this, but Data Wizards are here and indeed quite powerful. You can use them in 3 ways 1) Create data entries, with customized workflows and inputs. The UI you create yourself, and then map the inputs onto the fields 2) Modify existing data. Basically you can...

Re: Introductions and General Trigger Changes coming in Legacy of the Void

New data options are longer then this post, by a massive margin. There is simply too much to post at this time. There are a number of entire new data types, some to support Storm, but many are just new (Sound Exclusivity, Ping) There is also indications of more support for singleplayer content. THey...

Re: Introductions and General Trigger Changes coming in Legacy of the Void

Unknown at this time. The Void beta is getting a patch soon, so we may be able to tell then. I'll update the original with a slightly more organized setup in the next day or so.

Introductions and General Trigger Changes coming in Legacy of the Void

Hello, I'm ArcanePariah. Some of you may know me from the SC2Mapster IRC or from SC2Mapster as ArcaneDurandel. I've been datamining changes in Void and Storm (most changes are shared between them), so I thought I would share some of the stuff coming. Also, if you have difficulty reading this, I'm op...
