Re: LP Update/Comment Thread

A new article detailing the insanity of dealing with video content over the years has been released. This isn't complete, there's still some details to remember and/or actually add yet. But it's readable.

Re: Star Alliance bites the dust

At least you can take heart in the fact that 1.16 isn't an unstable version like SCR and your campaign won't just spontaneously break a week or two after you finish it.

Re: Star Alliance bites the dust

There hasn't really been new blood interested in modding for a long time, and SEN isn't active enough to accrue any interest. One has to lead by example if they're to foster a productive community, and Blizzard's community as a whole has no example to lead by except the extreme selfish greed of 2-3 ...

Re: Star Alliance bites the dust

Starcraft Remastered is a total dud. It's locked down and very hardcode-heavy. Most of the existing stuff you could do in 1.16 is not possible in remastered. I don't know of anyone who bothers with it.

Re: Star Alliance bites the dust

There's still people making SC1 content, including individuals like Nieve (Neive?) and iquare making reverse engineering research. There is more knowledge readily available for low-level modding of the game than there ever has been, but it takes finding and talking to the individuals to get to it.

Re: Star Alliance bites the dust

The Maplantis incident was some years ago. Someone told me the details a while back but unfortunately I can't recall the precise content of it. In essence, individuals interested in pursuing custom content made a sister site called Maplantis for some reason, but it later dissolved back into SEN and ...

Re: LP Update/Comment Thread

Ok, so re-calibrating the Schwa Sonic 2006 footage is going to be a bit tougher than just changing a few knobs in ffmpeg. I'm actually running two Levels filters in Vegas because the original videos were crushed (capture card/stream) and then vegas was crushing it a second time. Secondly, the stream...

NCIX data breech

HKS brought up something that is worth being posted here since a fair number of us have used NCIX when it was still in business. https://twitter.com/RichmondRCMP/status/1043234549558329344 https://www.privacyfly.com/articles/ncix_breach/ The tl;dr of it is that NCIX was our primary source for comput...

Re: Star Alliance bites the dust

Eh, most sites only really need a text editor. It'd be enough to just have access to the various campaigns and stuff.

I have no idea which part of the site was giving Lavarinth trouble at this point.

Re: Star Alliance bites the dust

I've offered to set up the site using a clone of mine which would be extremely simple to do, I could have it done in a day, but that offer wasn't taken. Lavarinth is pretty set on doing it his way. /e I'm pretty sure several people possess all of CC's content and porting it back to the site would be...

Re: LP Update/Comment Thread

Today was supposed to be a good day. Today was supposed to be an average day. But I guess "average" means "sheer insanity", now, after all, right? Behold the utter, wild incompetence of the Canadian government once more. I went to get the mail today. The conversation I had with m...

Re: LP Update/Comment Thread

One of the runs lost in the file table rollover years ago sees a new recording in recent times. Experience the Sonic 2006 of third-person shooters! Space Marine is now available!

Also, the LP list in the thread has been nuked and the header just points to the actual site, now.
